Dragonflight Stat Squish

You heard it right, on beta right now and after the recent beta/ptr update it seems as though 20s just lost a looot of stats. Gems seem unaffected but the stats (primaries and secondaries), enchant values and effects on gear seems to have just been nuked.

Examples:

Crusader also seems to be further nerfed to only give 21 strength at 20 (RIP)

Edit: Also the transmog my DK is using there is the Dragonflight dungeon set, that probably means we'll get to use Dragonflight transmogs at low levels for people who are interested. Still can't use Shadowlands transmogs though...

that's probably why then. i took these on beta and noticed that the higher level dungeon items have finally been scaled, might be a byproduct of that

Do you have a Dragonling trinket to test, or a cog head? Looking on wowhead, the Live page for the https://www.wowhead.com/item=59479/quick-cogwheel shows +10 at 20 and then scales up to +12 in BG, which we have now. But the Beta page shows +16 at 20-29 :O

yep, i didnt take a ss of it but its still only +10 outside bgs :[ not sure how it scales in them though

Also if mobs have more health that good. I don’t enjoy trivially destroying mobs. I hope it makes dungeons more difficult. That will be a good change.

I dont avidly play 20s anymore so I dont know the hp values on enemy mobs but I feel like its slightly lower than usual compared to live? If so then the squish for enemies is very slight

Not that drastic of a increase. Mob HP scales based on your timewalking mode. Mobs have less HP in Non-Timewalking mode. It does raise the question of whether or not 20s will still be as overpowered in PVE content, or if scaling will help them along despite the decrease in stats, but time will tell

edit: also curious as to how this will affect scaling between 20s and 29s in pvp, but it probably won't

The bursts in pvp will likely remain a thing, as this squish/rescaling also affects stamina from gear, while having gems remain untouched (at least for now).

details isnt working right now but damage numbers are lower, for frost dk it feels only ~15% lower. so not to a huge extent but with how much less the hp pools are comparatively a burst meta where everyone gets one shot may be upon us lol

also, frag belt is untouched. the only thing affecting it that will nerf it for us is the lower overall versatility numbers, im still critting it for 500+

instantly logged onto my dk to check out my old i49 and sure enough..

but turning on wm my stats and the stats on the weapon do not change

even after relogging nothing changes so -likely- just a tooltip bug

These squished gear stats (especially +1 str or 2-4 weapon damage tool tips) remind me of stats on level 10 gear on live (or from my old F2Ps I didn’t touch and remained at level 10 with old pre-SL gears).

I kind of wonder if level 10/etc. gear also saw a squish or not. Also, it’d be curious to see what the squish is like for 29s and other brackets.

If 10s didn’t see much of a stat squish, it could be a strange feeling to see 20s end up having similar main stats to 10s.

Depending on how squished 29s are (20s gear stats squished to almost 10s is rather extreme imho), this squish can also worsen the 20 to 29 gap relative to live. For example: a 300 vs 200 main stat gap (as a very simplified example) is a smaller relative gap than a 230 vs 130 gap.

Do you have any similar ilvl gear (44,28,25) that you can compare to on another non 20 toon?

I wonder if this is less of an item level stats change and another attempt at level based scaling? (Hope not)

another sad change for sure. But things will be moving quick now that betas out.

Y’all better hope for ilv 54 artis. It might be the only way to get any main stat if squish is for real.
