OP. Noticed a mistake in the first post. Under Synapse Springs you have listed them as lasting 12 seconds, when they only last 10 seconds.

Regards.

they used to last 12 at the date of the post guess ill update it now

Copying this from my other engineering thread so bear over with me :)

Got it after 9 shots, so 27 tinkers in total.

After these many tries I was suspecting it to have some sort of pattern, at least for some tinkers. I decided to try it out to see if I was correct.

I would always get a tinker at 441-443, usually skill up on bolts and get either Synapse or a gulp, only once did I get one of the useless belt tinkers. Then I would get another one at 451-455 and again at 461-465.

EVERY single time I did the bolts I got synapse or gulp, no exceptions but the above mentioned.

When reaching 451 I would get either a gulp or a belt tinker and finally something completely useless such as another gulp or belt.

I did the first 8 re-levels with bolts only and eventually something flashy just to break the rhythm a bit.

By the 9th try I went for bolts up to 451 and then Ethers till the first tinker procc.

I happened to get Synapse as the first one which was allright.

I then did bolts up to 455 (seeing there's no tinker discovery) and then Ethers again and BAM, Tazik!

I continued with bolts and voila, a gulp.

This seemed strange so I decided (oddly enough) to re-level engineering.

I've now re-leveled engineering three times with the same combination of bolts and ethers and i've gotten the same tinkers every time; Synapse, Tazik and a gulp.

I don't know if RNG is playing a trick on me and decided to piss me down my back, or if this is a genuine pattern. Anyhow, it's worth trying out if you're willing to go for 'em.

Good luck

That is rng ****ing with you

An American psychologist named B.F. Skinner studied this way of seeming to detect patterns when there are none.

"One of Skinner's experiments examined the formation of superstition in one of his favorite experimental animals, the pigeon. Skinner placed a series of hungry pigeons in a cage attached to an automatic mechanism that delivered food to the pigeon at regular intervals with no reference whatsoever to the bird's behavior. He discovered that the pigeons associated the delivery of the food with whatever chance actions they had been performing as it was delivered, and that they subsequently continued to perform these same actions. Skinner suggested that the pigeons behaved as if they were influencing the automatic mechanism with their "rituals" and that this experiment shed light on human behavior."

looking back is always funny. seeing skinners work you might just say, "of course...why isnt that obvious!?1!" but think of us as the birds and you can see how easily people associate random things with "fate/faith/religion". which makes it all that more crazy to see what humans pass off to fate/relig

just keep going if you want an engineering item. or give up and settle...i mean, eventually you almost have to get the item you desire, but it all depends on how much time/gold you want to devote to the desire vs "instant" gratification like a passive buff or another prof you know will give you a benefit like JC or something

I dont know what some of you guys are talking about leveling eng for 2k gold...its 3k gold just for me to get through fel iron ore id say it costs about 7-9k for me to get 450eng there is never BC or wotlk stuff on the AH :(

Edit: 9k = invis fml ... guess im going gnome for now

it varies big time depending on servers... cobalt and fel iron can go for crazy amounts on some servers :/

Okay so I'm a belf Mage and I'm at 450 Eng now and know 1 tinker. If I switched to gnome now would I be able to learn 2 more?

y es

Right i got a question, i'v already faction changed my rogue once to gnome and i got 2 more tinkers, for a total of 3, if i race change to gnome again, does that mean that i have a chance to get 2 more making me a total of 5/8 ?
