1. Conditions for participation
To join the championship, you have to comply with the 3 following rules:
- You have to play with a 20 level character (no matter if he is a veteran or not.)
- You have to create a team of 3 players (you + 2 other players) ; they can be your friends or anyone, as long as the precedent rules are complied.
- You have to be available in the night (from 10pm London time and from 09pm from Paris time (CEST)) from Monday, 28th August to Thursday, 31th August.
If you don't apply these rules, you couldn't participate in the tournament.
2. Tournament progess
The Burning League is a tournament which works on war games principle. To join the final, the different teams fight each other in 3v3 via the tool enabling to launch arenas in game.
The players who fight have to be identified in the list of participants in order both teams may know who they will fight. The D day, after arbitrator had checked the compliance with the rules, teams fight each other in a serie of rounds if there had equality since the two first ones. The principle acts in this way until the team be eliminated by a new team or win the tournament.
2.1. Rules
(The adjacent footage shows the winning team of the 2016 edition)
- Realms
About servers you can form cross-realms. You can create thus a team with 3 players, that come from the same realm or not. The player's nationality doesn't matter, as long as he may speak with a Latin alphabet.
- Classes
About teams it will be forbidden to play twice the same class. This rule must be respected because it enables to avoid imbalances. For example you can thus play with a shaman, a paladin and a rogue but not with two rogues et only a paladin.
Regarding the roles, you have to comply with the following comp: a melee DPS by team + a heal + a ranged-melee. So not possible to play 3 DPS or 2 heals and more. This rule is the result of the will to guarantee balanced games, since with two melee DPS the healer dies too quickly.
If we do a summary here's what we get:
1. Each team must have 3 players.
2. Each team only belongs to one faction: Alliance or Horde.
3. It is forbidden to play two times the same class in the same team.
4. Each team that joins the tournament must play with a melee DPS, a healer and a ranged DPS.
5. The following spells are forbidden:Overpower (warrior),Ray of Frost (mage) andThrowing Axes (hunter)
6. Every match will be made thanks to the Wargames tool (arenas 3vs3).
7. A player can't register himself in two different teams.
8. Each match is over once a team won two rounds consecutively. If there is tie before the 3rd round, it is the first team that wins the 3rd round that wins the game.
9. Multiboxing not authorized.
10. If a player crashes during the game, the match must be repeated.
11. Each team may use substitute players (the ones registered in the tournament list).
12. If a player is absent on D-day his team loses the match, except if a substitute player accepts to come.
2.2. League table
This table is composed of 4 phases. Through each of them, each team fights another one through a match. Each match is composed of 3 rounds: the first team who wins two rounds wins the match.
It is important to notice that each match won enables to get 1 point. However each defeat makes win no point for the losing team. In case of tie, the game continues until one of the two teams wins the next round against the other one.

2.3. Arenas
To win the tournament, each team will fight in arenas wargames. There are 2 arenas now available in F2P:
- Arena #1: Ruins of Lordaeron
As the name suggests, the Ruins of Lordaeron are the rests of the old capital of the human realm of Lordaeron. The souls of the deads hunt the left side of the arena (showed by a cemetery), while a chancre lake located on the right side reminds the presence of the Forsaken. The presence of a grave in the middle of the area constitues the only way to take advantage of the altitude to avoid the ennemy attacks.
- Arena #2: Dalaran Sewers
Located in the Dalaran city, the town's sewers make interessant this arena, due to the waterfalls that come interacting with the players. Indeed, these ones may arrive in any moment in the middle of the area, and so projecting all players in every corner of the arena. In addition to this, the presence of crates on the sides of the platform enables to hide from the opponent.
3. Post-tournament
The expression "post tournament" concerns all the activities we will do once the tournament ended. They start with a raid on King Mosh (a lvl55 T-rex in Un'goro crater), then end with PvP events (premades or something else, we'll see).
3.1. Un'goro raid
We will do a raid in Un'goro once the final will be ended. The raid will gather every twinks who will wish to play in PvE. The objective is simple: join the Un'goro crater - an area located in south Kalimdor - in order to eliminate an elite T-rex.
4. F.A.Q - Frequently Asked Questions
I haven't got the courage to read everything, so, can you make a summary?
Basically we make a new tournament, but better than the 2016 edition.
All right, but in the details, what should I see?
In the details, you have to comply with the rules and follow what will be added: if you do like this, there will be no problem for your register.
Ok ok, and what about dates? When does it start?
You may register right now until 27th Sunday at noon. Beyond this timeline, inscriptions will be closed. From 28 to 30, we will make pools, quarterfinals and semifinals - then we will do both the final and the raid on 31th.
About the Un'goro raid, how can we go to the area?
The answer is simple: no matter the faction, everyone goes to Booty Bay to take the ship that leads to Cabestan. From this place we will travel until the area.
Why do you forbidden two same classes in a team?
Because otherwise it would create a too big unbalancement. One team with two warrios could easily kill the healer and win the game. The aim of this goal is to prevent any abuse.
Why 3 rounds for every match?
Because no matter which team losts the first round, it has still a luck to win to the next one. From this way the team has the opportunity to get another chance, and this may also be a good thing.
5. Follow the tournament
To keep in touch with the process of the tournament, you have to check yourself what will be added every day.
5.1. Threads about the tournament
As said before, it is strongly suggested to check every thread in contact with the 2017 edition of the tournament. However, 3 main topics have the priority over the others ones: the thread about the number of teams, the one about the presentation of the tournament (rules and others) and the one that gives the meeting dates and manages the organization (aka the planning).
- [Burning League 2017] Pannel league
5.2. Social networks about the tournament
You also may keep in touch with the tournament via the social networks. There are many accounts and pages about the Burning League on the web, so you have the choice. The big advantage to follow the tournament on these social networks is that you could remain informed about the tournament EVERY TIME, and not only during the summer on XPoff.
