Not really "freaky gear" but more like Blizz never fixed it's horrible squish system and maybe now it's working as originally intended. WoD was one of the 1st XPacs to have ultra stupid RNG packaged within RNG drops to keep people subbed because they still didn't have that last 1 point of Versa or Agi or Socket due to poor RNG procs.

I cant even get 1 socket to drop since the patch but RNG be RNG.
You know what blew my mind. I found this staff (one on left). It's somehow only 4 melee dmg less than gnarled ash staff (for guardian druid). And only 6 points off my moonfire dot. Meaning if it was socketed, it should be an upgrade.

Ever since the OP shared this (thanks@championlo) I've been casually farming the three lower level WoD dungeons to see what might be available, running 10s through BSMines and SBGrounds and 15/16 through Docks off and on.
Not 20s I know but the mechanics should be the same.
With DF coming in a couple of months and socketed drops apparently removed I thought I'd say a few things as I wind this up.
I have had exactly zero socketed items drop in September. I assume these are now Gf'd, though I'd love to be proven wrong.
Even when sockets did drop the odds were horrendous - and they were almost never an actual upgrade.
I never saw a double socket, nor have I seen one from anyone else farming here. But I can still dream.
And as much as I'd also love a staff w/socket, I never saw any weapon drop with one and doubt they did.
Did anyone get one? On a CN server maybe?
It hasn't been a terrible grind the way I did it, a few runs a day before/after work, but it has run its course.
I dislike Slagmines and am glad to be done with it, but I will keep a 10 at Shadowmoon and a 15 at Docks and still check it out occasionally, partly from a lingering curiosity, and partly because I'd still like a couple of purples with speed.
If by any miracle I do get another drop worth mentioning I will post here ASAP.

A bit too late, doesnt seem to proc socket / double tert anymore. It was most likely a bug from Blizz adding WoD dungs to the mythic+ season.

Pretty sure only the gear that drops from the mythic dungeons can proc socket,

Pretty sure the items on this list are the only ones that can proc a socket and considering how many items drop froma boss its going to be a difficult farm.
