Also, perhaps Laurenti can elaborate on how spectator mode works. I was under the impression it allowed for a 3rd party to tag along without needing add-ons or otherwise intruding on the in-game performance of anyone playing.

Asking me to elaborate on an addon is a bit vague but ok. The third party can fly around the map from a third-person omniscient point-of-view. The addon will be updated to have team scoreboards/CD trackers/etc (similar to the additional arena UI addon (Arena Live) that you download along with the bgspectator.) However, the BGLive addon has not been released afaik. W/o the spectator addon, you are stuck running around the map as a ghost on ground level. So yeah, any more questions?

This might be a jargon misunderstanding, but how does a 3rd party addon allow you to fly around the map and spectate? I thought that was a feature Blizzard created but hasn't yet officially supported. I had assumed the 3rd party addon portion just made it look pretty with unit frames and CD tracking.

Does it cause intrusion on participants to have any affect on their system performance?

Blizzard implemented the function, the add on is in place to avoid the script commands needed to start the games, what laurentI had mentioned is true, basically the add on itself is no where near done in comparison to its arena counterpart. Once changes are made to accompany battlegrounds you got yourself a pretty sweet deal

Thanks for the info. If I understand correctly then, no BG participant must use any addon for spectating to occur.
at this point I have no intention of using the spectator add on or allowing anyone to spectate my teams games. So I would have to forced at gunpoint to degrade my performance and risk a crash that costs by team the game all to allow another pointless rule to appease the whiny.
MYT are you still planning to withhold spectating of your games?

The whole point of the spectating feature in the twink up is for the overall benefit of the Twink Cup and the 19 community. This bracket is hungry for competition and allowing them to watch the tournament live from twitch is an amazing and privileged right to this community. A privilege that was denied to us as of last years tournament due to the lack of teams streaming due to ddos or disinterest. Use of this "add-on on the rise" will be a great asset to the overall popularity and future of the Twink Cup as a whole. People need to be kept in the loop, and with the way the prize pool is going and the advertising that people are doing for this event, Blizzard could very well be getting involved. Which in turn would make it an even more public event.

Every game isn't going to be spectated and streamed on the Twink Cup stream because games will be happening simultaneously, but at least one match per round will be streamed, and if that match finishes early and there are still other matches being played the remaining games in another match might be streamed. It's pretty much going to be a requirement that teams be willing to be spectated/streamed.

We can always have a twinkcup2 twitch stream a second game. But having games hoing on at the same time seems kinda hectic

1. No one must use any addon except for the 21st person (not on either team) who is spectating the match, it has nothing to do with the other 20 players.
2. Not sure why MYT doesn't want to be spectated, it's not like the spectator(s) can DDOS you because of the spectator mode or something. Lol.

There's other reasons but if that's the rules then that's fine. I mean for example if we allow spectating it's guaranteed some teams will have someone in voice com with them feeding them info about the other team from someone that is spectating. I consider that BS - can really take away the element of surprise. Heck if they can see stealthers could be ridiculously abused (lead a defender right to the efc, etc). This is a primary concern but not my only one.

Anyways, the fact that spectating is mandated doesn't change my position that agreeing to disqualify teams for someone equipping a 36 health libram is a good idea nor do I acknowledge that "whiny biatch", the player who will only play in 19's if he gets his way to ban said libram, even exists.

Interesting point about espionage, I hadn't considered it. Though there is considerable lag time on twitch. About 30 seconds I think.

A) if there's just one spectator (this isn't clear to me but then again I am not familiar with the app), who will they be / how is that determined? That helps alleviate my concern of a malicious spectator (I sort of envisioned multiple people having that option).
B) if it's a stream would be nice to delay it until end of match as there's still valuable information that could be shared by watching with say a 1-2 minute delay (not as valuable as live of course). This could be mitigated fully by waiting until game over to stream it.

Should have a community poll on who should be the spectator(s).

Can have Dory write up the post.

5 min delay will probably be chosen. no valuable information will be exposed.
i think multiple people can spectate bgs but i havent messed with it

Most valuable information will be excecuted almost always in a near future so I agree with rusks that 5 min delay should be enough.

I would imagine the people that will be commentating the games will be the ones spectating

This, only the commentators will be spectating. No one is going to message either team about the other teams positioning, The commentators will not be on any team during the tournament and it is not like a guild leader is going to be spectating his team's match or something.
As far as GFd gear, idc what they have. If they can equip it they can use it. Just because an FC doesn't have the perfect ideal items doesn't mean that the game cannot still be even. I guarantee you that skill level will definitely outweigh the difference of a few minor stats here and there.
