24s are still an issue in f2ptwink so I'm using a new channel. I really don't care to spend my time trying to convince people to be kind in a game. This is for those of you who don't require convincing.

Rules for the channel are short and sweet:
1. Be nice to others
2. Play at 20
3. Play for objectives
4. Respect the other faction and have picnics!

I chose Oldschool for the name for lack of a better idea. To join the channel, type this command into your chat box ingame: /f2paddon channel Oldschool

Be sure to use a capital "O" or you won't be able to chat properly. This will remove you from f2ptwink. As far as I know f2paddon only supports one channel.

Current channel is f3ptwink, all lower caps. Kochist's thread will help you setup a second channel, be sure to download Yasueh's link on the second page.

This idea will likely be scrutinized and targeted by trolls. Any news will be posted here either by myself or another member of the new channel.

It solves a common problem very simply. New channel. Will be great for those who need it.
 
I don't really care for how you treat 20 p2ps or 24s. Maybe Ap needs some a Tickle? I don't mean in bgs either.

In this transitional period people are going to want to let their friends know about the new channel. Joining f2ptwink will get you added and also add everyone in the f2ptwink channel. This will also allow us to access p2p in f2ptwink even though we have switched back over to Oldschool.

To emphasize, to have every addon user still on your friend list, you'll have to switch between channels occasionally. This is easily done via a couple of macros, /f2paddon channel f2ptwink and /f2paddon channel Oldschool (make sure everything is capitalized correctly). This is used solely to update your friend list, as the addon will update your FL via which channel you are in.


Edit: Be sure to "Set Note" on close friends, to solve alternate channel communication issues.

BTW, not intended to go against p2p 20s at all, Honey. :)

It's just a reaction to something that has changed (and may change back again), but will provide people upset (like me) with what happens on their long time home server with a break to keep them happy.

There have been some changes in the ideals of players using Yasueh's wonderful addon on AP.


Now to avoid misunderstandings; this is not intended as an "old versus new players" argument, as I'm sure that no matter how long people have played on AP there are lots of different opinions on the matter I'll bring up in a moment, and I don't want to devalue anyone's right to their own opinion.


Many players make the argument that in a community what the majority enjoys should be accepted, including getting rid of some tenets AP has held in the past.


There are some of us who don't agree that the basic rules of AP should be abolished, which were:

1. Be nice to others
2. Play at 20
3. Play for objectives
4. Respect the other faction and have picnics!

This was observed regardless of whether someone played F2P or P2P.


Some people now state they wish a development into a new rule-free environment, but I know that others like me do not want to play and chat without those rules.

Among them Activate, who was trying to convince people but had very little backup today. I dislike banning people from channel except for extreme cases, but to try and change at least something that is what Acti did when the grouping with 24 got out of hand. It was disappointing to me that he got very little support in regards to his goals, which I would have expected more of, even from people who dislike banning.

Maybe a break is what we need to not lose those people liking our old rules. I felt pretty upset at some of the crude chat.
 
Im not changing channels. /Ignore is there for a reason. Mods are there for a reason. I agree with Activate's ethical standpoint but I think you could handle it more maturely.

I feel that AP twinks should not be premading with 24s. Im not switching channels because of this. If you disagree with people you can also choose to work with them to try to make them understand your position better. Sure there are a lot of newer twinks in the channel who may not understand some of these "unwritten rules" that the oldschoolers take for granted. Guess what they will mostly be gone within months and the stalwarts of the bracket and the channel will still be here. And we will still not be grouping with 24s.

But Im not throwing a tantrum and building my own little castle in response to this. Im taking a breath and Im going to ride it out, like I wish you other guys would. Splintering the community is never a solution IMHO.

This might work - maybe you can add some extra security to the channel so people cant ban whoever they want for bad reasons I herd some ppl complaing about that on AP.
 
Dumbest idea ever. I like you, Activiate, but just /ignore 24's and be happy. Splitting is what destroys families, servers, bands, teams, churches, you name it. You're splitting, so stop or gtfo.
 
Ignore the nasayers in here actvi.. AP has gotten out of hand and I've seen more and more f2ps premading with bad 24s and I can't even stand the channel for more then 5 minutes sometimes so this will be a good idea. AP has been going downhill and if the people there specifically say they won't change or they want a rule free thing then more power to ya. Ya'll created the realm and if they don't want to listen to you to try and rebuild it then a new channel will be needed. GL in this and I hope to start facing more premades and less failmades. I'm sure I'll be able to tell who's in this channel or not ;)

This is not about splitting AP. Activate and others have just realized that trying to rebuild the main channel is not possible.

People can easily be in both channels as it only takes 1 second to hop over. This is just a 2nd channel for those who want to abide by the simple rules listed by Activate.
 
I'd probably have to agree. This would probably split the community and make it more difficult to have premades or communication between players.
 
I am a good player with no morals, it shames me to see newfags trying to over-run the Horde community, glad I am not around to be in this shitfest. AP horde still num won I guess jajajajaja.
 
Terrible idea, the trolls will surely just steal your new channel and ban everyone. /ignore works wonders
 
What you should really do is challenge the people who do not abide by the rules to arenas/duels to prove their worth with actual gameplay. If they win you have to leave the channel, but if they lose they either follow and abide with you or leave. I dunno I just thought that would be a really epic purging if you were really that committed lol, not to be taken seriously but for some reason I thought that up while reading this. GL
