Getting other armor type than intended

Hello!
I'm currently looking into gearing my druid and find both leather gloves and waist to be underwhelming, so my question is how do I obtain cloth armor?
Is it possible to get when you're not subbed and can't trade or is the only way to have a cloth user trade the item?
Is it possible to get cloth gear from quests or is that locked to the intended armor aswell?

For dungeon loot you can get a subbed high-level to invite you (say a friend or your own second account, you cant talk to subs) and run you through the dungeon with the loot you're after... Legacy Mode is enabled for toons a certain range above the dungeon max level and drops in legacy mode are random, ignoring armor type. Generally two drops per boss, split between the party.

For most bosses, if your druid is strong enough to solo it, the high level can quickly run you through the trash to it and then log out as you solo-kill the boss itself, and then you will get both pieces of loot at your level. Still random.

edit- if you try to solo the whole instance you'll be in personal loot mode and often wont get any loot at all, just gold.

What spec is your druid?
Are you F2P only or are you planning to farm ilvl28 greens with a sub?
Quest gear IS locked to class.
Either resto or balance, I'm not totally sure yet - it is feral atm, so I just want to keep my options open :) I might be farming a bit BfA greens, but I find it rather boring.

How do I keep the items at level 20 req. for the high level? Won't it go to max level of that dungeon? If you're talking The Mechanar the level range is 20-30.

You cant. You can only log out of the high level to remove them from the loot-eligibility list... so yeah, it sucks they get the items you need sometimes (all the freaking time ). You do need them to enter the dungeon for Legacy mode tho.

Once the dungeon is set at legacy you dont "need" them anymore, if you can solo bosses. Or 2-4 man them.

Ah okay, good to know - thanks :)

if the highlevel exits the dungeon but not party, the carried 20 can get 2 pieces of loot in most scenarios. eg the "rare" frog at the end of rfk is one that won't. solo like that is how i geared my priest. but more recently i broke down and made a 2nd acct, so now i bring another 20 too and after the highlev clears and exits, i swap chars n duo things. no i don't "multibox", i just alt-tab to stay in the legal zone. Chars can trade dropped loot and it's all scaled to 20.

if i have a multi-boxing party (all lvl20) running the dungeon, and i want just one of them to get all the loots from the boss, can i just logout the others right before the boss dies? I mean all party members deal damages to the boss until it is about to die, instead of just 1 of them soloing the boss (which is not possible without at least healer)

Pretty sure they'll still be on the loot eligibility list, and you can log out in combat afaik. Even getting disconnected half way through a fight lets you loot the boss (or has in the past)... alt-f4 out might be different but i never tried it.

I've tried leaving the party before engaging, didnt change anything. Only thing worked for me was logging out prior.

if you have a multi-boxing party of 20s:
- i thought they changed it so that keystroke broadcasting is against tos now? so if you're really multiboxing and not just alt-tabbing and manually entering inputs watch out
- you aren't in legacy loot mode with all 20s, so the drops are spec-specific, affected by role choice, not guaranteed to drop per boss, etc.
- whereas in legacy loot mode 2 items drop per party of any size for most bosses, not spec specific. anything off the loot table, and the same thing can drop twice. commonly legacy loot mode is turned on by having a high enough member in party and not using party synch or anything to lower it
- having a highlev char online in party in dungeon when a boss is engaged gives the chance that the drops may be scaled to the highlev char and not the lowlev(s). leaving dungeon or logging before engaging removes this chance. it's not the kill but the engage, so you can't have the highlev dps to 5% then log. this includes events like endboss hillsbrad--can't log out after killing the packs but before the dragon.
- dropped loot regardless of ilvl can be traded between party members that were online and in dungeon when boss was engaged.

so in short, for a group of all 20s you can just tradewindow everything to whatever character, but you're getting random # drops per boss and items tied to your characters specs.

sometimes when a loot table had an item i wanted that was rareish yet there wasn't much else on the table for a given spec, i'd run dungeons normally and see it drop ezier being limited to just that spec's drops. more often legacy loot speed runs from a highlevel bruteforcing the whole potential loot table was my chosen option.

Aside from my PL skepticism, I still would do this as it's so much faster than trying to do it all at level 20 by yourself.

But for first boss loot... I can definitely see me using only a few 20 for that. So far it seems at least 4 in a party are necessary to guarantee loot, assuming it works exactly as Blizz says. My third run with only 3 nothing dropped but gold.
