your verdict on 5.2

Oh look, it's that ridiculous assumption again. 10 million subs does not make WoW better than any other MMO, in the same way that huge numbers of box office sales do not make a film good enough to be nominated for awards.

The only reason that WoW has remained popular is because it became so popular back when it had no competition. People don't switch to newer, better games, because they'd need to get all their friends to switch over too if they don't want to play on their own. Because it's an MMO, and has so many aspects of a social networking service, it keeps it's users just like Facebook does in the face of any competition.

WoW's suscribers grew in MOP. The game is getting better.

Unbiased opinion here, I think you need to wait till the end of MoP to see whether there was an overall increase or decrease in subscribers. People who quit or are losing interest are more likely to give a new expansion a chance for a good amount of time before they quit.

WoW's subscribers grew in MoP? So what, they also grew in TBC, WotLK and Cata, and in every expansion they've also fallen back down again after the initial release.

March 2012-February 2013 with MoP release on 28th August.

(the first half of the bottom scales on the graphs are off by a month because Jan or Dec occur twice)

Comparing February then to todays numbers, the last 2 years has seen average active players seen per server per week drop from over 1100 to just under 900 for Alliance, while for Horde those numbers have gone from 800 to 600. Even allowing for a couple of new realms, the game has less players than it did 2 years ago.

What these 2 graphs also show is that most people who got MoP stopped playing it 2 months after the expansion. It took 6 months for numbers to gradually fall off after Cata.

Yep, and CRZ was a stealth server merge to mask the decrease in players.

Out of curiosity, where did you get those graphs from? I find data/statistics on MMOs fascinating.

They're from warcraftrealms.com, although the first one I saved 2 years ago. There's no way to access more than the last year's data, and while they've released graphs covering several years before, the last one only went up to 2009.

Also, Starter Edition was implemented to boost the numbers in low level areas, so that new players wouldn't be put off by them being empty.

Also there were alot of people who got MOP after a while because Cata was a horrible expact and it made them reductant to buy MOP.

The game is improving.

The thunder king trailer was badass. Almost made me want to resub... But I HATE grinding dailies. >,<

Yasueh, you really should stop playing if you feel the way you say you do about wow. i dont get how you dont enjoy p2p, yet you enjoy fp2 when it's the same game.

You assume too much when you think that just because I'm posting here, and I can be bothered to update the addon, that I'm still playing WoW at all. I hadn't logged in for months until I had to test the 1.2.13 version of f2paddon.

I've been far too busy playing Borderlands 2, Dishonored, Crysis 2, Torchlight 2, Metro 2033, Firefall, Brutal Legend and Tomb Raider 2013 to give a fuck about something as dated as WoW.

People tend to get bored at a game if you play it for a long time. It's completely normal and doesn't mean the game is bad.

WTB verdict on 2013

Farm chests and BFD until Blizz fixes BG scaling?

Otherwise, pretty good. You know since we all PvP and PvP is broken right now.

Anyone wanna form up some 20 Gnomer runs? Just for shits n giggles?

Could a well played Draenei (for the +1% hit and hot) prot paladin solo Gnomer? Stocks? BFD?

I kinda wanna try.
