Ok, to answer some questions. YES, you can xmog ANYTHING that is allowed by Blizz that a higher level toon personally has on them that is the same item type (leather shoulders > leather BOA shoulders). NO, it's not a bug to xmog heirlooms and mail back to your lowbie, did you not see the Blizz GM who did it on his level 1, it's in this very thread. NO, you cannot then sell the item you used to xmog another item, you have to keep it as long as the other item is xmog'd in your bank, bag or void storage. NO, you cannot personally on your lowbie xmog any item you cannot equip at that very moment even if it's soul bound in your bag and is of the right item type.
As of this Sunday every level 1+ will have access to MANY complete sets from Classic WoW (and beyond?) via the new DMF island and it's dailies, which give those tickets, which you buy the "new" xmog gear with, which Blizz intended you to do. Hope that helps.

GL to you, it's well known that Blizz doesn't give a crap how much gold players lose for any reason other than a hacked account. Imo however, the "bug" is that heirlooms lose the xmog only occasionally, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Keep in mind this is an entirely new system on a brand new patch and it's gonna be a while before all the bugs are worked out by Blizz.

@DeLindsay - if you look at the patch notes for transmog, it clearly states that its not meant to be able to be mailed.

It is a bugg when you mail a x-moged item is the new look on the item supposed to be striped off. But yet it's not like that. sometimes when you send the item it buggs and its allows you to have the x-moged item on your lv 1.

pirate set. tank main hand BOA xmogged to blade of wizardry and cloth BOA helm xmogged to first mate hat.
farmer set. cloth BOA chest xmogged into blue overalls.
still in pirate set but with 2 handed axe BOA xmogged into an arcanite ripper that i was smart enough to hang onto on my old main (yay me!)
still working on a pimp set, engineer set, and making the plate BOAs look ok. will post when i get there! not pictured: turned my leather BOA rogue helm into the rifle commander's eyepatch.
as you can tell, i still want to look like a level 1. i have enough high level toons, i don't need to stare at that gear all the time lol.

got my lvl 1 hunter with the /script DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage("\124cffa335ee\124Hitem:34196:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:0\124h[Golden Bow of Quel'Thalas]\124h\124r"); , /script DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage("\124cffa335ee\124Hitem:47708:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:0\124h[Duskstalker Shoulderpads]\124h\124r"); and /script DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage("\124cffa335ee\124Hitem:72811:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:0\124h[Cloak of the Banshee Queen]\124h\124r");. with the /script DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage("\124cffe5cc80\124Hitem:61937:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:0\124h[Stained Shadowcraft Cap]\124h\124r"); not tranmogrified. sun cured leather under it and the gilneas tabard looks nice.

Are you sure level 1s will be allowed to use these DMF items? Someone mentioned that for example since level 1s cant equip plate armor they would not be able to buy and transmog the replica plate armors from DMF. Would level 1 plate wearers be limited to mail replicas?
