Talents/Glyphs/Spells

Talents

PB3zNxN.png

Celerity : Reduces the cooldown of Roll and Chi Torpedo by 5 sec and increases their maximum number of charges by 1.

Tiger's Lust : Increases movement speed by 70% for 6 sec and removes all roots and snares. 30 second cooldown.

Momentum : Roll and Chi Torpedo also increase movement speed by 25% for 10 sec, stacking up to 2 times.

Tiger's Lust is our preferred talent in this tier, due to the fact frees the player from roots and slows. It can also be casted on other players aka to help FCs escape.

Glyphs

Flying Serpent : Flying Serpent Kick now also slows all enemies you move through by 70% for 4 sec.
I find this glyph usefull when going against meele and you to kite. Check dueling section for more info.

Fortifying Brew : Your Fortifying Brew reduces damage taken by an additional 5%, but increases your health by 10% rather than 20%.
I've thought of using this against high burst meele classes (Rogue/Feral/BM/Ret) but have not tried it enough to give feedback.

Touch of Karma : Your Touch of Karma now has a 20 yard range.
Really great against range! Checking dueling section for more info.

Spells
Offensive
Jab : Main generator for Chi, giving us 2 Chi per use, and has an 8% chance of our next Tiger Palm or Blackout Kick cost no Chi.

Tiger Palm : When used allows us to ignore 30% of our targers armor for the next 20 seconds. Cost 1 Chi.

Blackout Kick : Main source of damage outside Fist of Fury (FoF). When Blackout Kick is used behind the target it does 30% more damage as a dot for the next 4 seconds. If used in front of the target is heals us for 30% of the damage dealt.

Provoke : Taunts the target. Use on Rogues/Ferals to keep them in combat so they can't get a restealth.

Fist of Fury : Our hardest hiting spell and our stun. FoF is an AoE stun that also does damage (splits between targets). 30 Second Cooldown. Also check dueling section for more info.

Touch of Karma : Redircts incoming damage to the current target, the damage can not exceed 50% of your maxium health.

Disable : Slows and roots the target. Check tips and tricks section for more info.

Defensive
Fortifying Brew : 20% more health and 20% damage reduction. 3 minutes cooldown.

Detox : Removes ALL Poison and Diseases.

Expel Harm : Heals yourself for a certain % of your HP, also generating 2 Chi and deal 33% of the amount healed as nature damage to an enemy within 10 yards.

Surging Mist : Our spamable heal that cost 30 energy.

Mobility
Roll : Roll a short distance. With a 20 second recharge timer.

Flying Serpent Kick : Soar forward through the air at high speed for 2 sec. 25 second cooldown.

Tips and Tricks
Flying Serpent Kick + Disable
When you flying serpent kick a player it instantly puts a slow on that player, follow that up with a disable and it turns into a 4 second roots.

Pre Karma
When going against someone who has high burst potential it's key to try and land a pre karma. Example : Going against a priest who has the glyph for 3 orbs off mind blast, when you them begin to cast mind blast wait till about 75% of the cast to finish then karma, usually SPriest will tend to DP right away after. If you do this succesfully not only are u asboring most of the one shot you're also putting huge damage on your Karma target, if you can follow this with a FoF it usually leads to a kill.

Peeling
When peeling for your healer or FC don't forget to use serpent kicks for slows and also disable for roots/slows.

Gaining Chi
During Arenas at the start you can Expel Harm to gain 2 Chi and either go in right away, or how I like to do it is wait another 15 seconds to go in so I can start the fight we 3 Chi. This allows me to open up with Tiger's Palm for 30% armor ignorance into Jab for 2 more Chi, followed with FoF etc.. etc..

nice guide ill keep it in mind if i ever venture into the 20-29 bracket... few things ill comment on that effects monks at all levels is: tuaren should never be chosen as horde if you care for racials since warstomp DRs fist... multistrike is worse then crit on monk until higher levels since it has 1 chance to proc in pvp for a 30% damage and crit will give 50% damage when you crit... as far as karma goes... it can be used offensively like you said but its your biggest defensive so if you chose to use it offensively its extremely risky most of the time... generally making it not worth it however there are some exceptions... i wont comment on gearing section since like i stated i do not play 29s so i have no idea... just figured id comment with my knowledge of mono to see if i can help out any

Good guide. You should add in bottom of guide. If wind walker gets to hard spec to Brewmaster 90% of your gear stays the same. < Smh >

Thanks for your input man :D appreciate it, and glad to know multistrike will only proc once in pvp (never saw that :D) will go try out crit later on today and see how it's.

Missing some races, glyph of freedom roll, enchants aren't bis (lesser assault scales bad, same for scorched legs, shoulder chant is debatable, would like some calculations on why multistrike over crit or versa. Landslide/berserking might also be a good alternative for EF, I liked it a lot at least).

So far the guide looks decent, but definitely needs more tips on how to actually play one and some more in-depth information on abilities and ways of using them. I understand the guide is not ready yet, though, so can't expect everything to be dead on. Good luck finishing it :)

@ Op, Multistrike is not as good as crit in pvp, critical hits give 50% extra damage and Multistrike only gives 1 chance at 30% extra damage now in pvp. It still has the best scaling of secondary stats, but it's not enough to warrant stacking Multistrike over crit. Also, it should be noted that a player can faction swap to get 2x Ring of vigorous interruption.

http://www.wowhead.com/item=42945/venerable-dalrends-sacred-charge is an alternative to the maces.

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/ursin/Munkz/advanced example of a good build.

Some additional notes for players who might be interested in playing MW with their WW monks:

1. This quest chain is available to both factions but not repeatable if you faction swap. You should choose the one you feel will benefit you most.

2. This quest and this quest are basically different versions of the same quests, both are doable if you faction swap. The rewards, however, are slightly different. If you want the leather crit boots and the bracers, you will want to get the boots on alliance and swap to horde for the bracers. If you want the leather healing belt and bracers, you will have to get the belt on horde and swap to alliance for the bracers.

3. This quest and this quest are repeatable after a faction swap and yield some decent rewards for 29s.

4. This quest and this quest are only available to horde and have no alliance equivalent.

It's always best to start on the faction you don't intend to play on when you are faction swapping for quest rewards.

i made a post about crit being better and i still believe it is but thought id mention that multistrike could actually be pretty good on a windwalker monk because of their passive tiger strikes... vers is also best for windwalker monks at 19 not sure how it scales at 29 so not going to say its best but id look into it

I would use the shadowleather leg armor. Icescale is not scaling properly, it gives way lower crit/ap than it says. Shadowfangs could maybe be BiS in bgs/arenas etc. I would probably run landslide and get really hard fists. Also shoulder enchant is not BiS, I think the level 90 inscription enchant is better.

Hello, Im new in this forum and I cant create a new thread, so I've writen here to resolve a doubt about two classes.

Which is better enhancement shaman or windwalker monk? Could you show me weaknesses and strengths? I've been in this bracket for a short time and I want create a viable and funny class but not OP.

Thank you!

Both very strong dps choices. WW brings the pain a little more, but shaman brings purge and windshear ,which are game changers. Outside of FoF, or Blood Elf Silence you'll have no interrupt as ww.

Basically as a WW you'll be forcing trinket in first fof cd, and landing a kill in the 2nd.

Im rolling a WW now actually. I temp respecced to BM for getting gear.

Im having a bit of an issue finding out what BIS actually is, like for gloves, for example. Ilev35 Vigerous handguards of the monkey(10 armor, 9 agil and 9 stam) vs houndmaster gloves, which have 1 less armor and 3 less agility.

Most of the threads ive seen are so old they are now useless.

I'll now mention something that really makes me laugh, and not in the good way...

Blizzard stated they were removing reforging to avoid confusion, especially for newer players (see patch notes pre 6.0)
Yet, they introduced a whole new batch of secondary stats and nothing to show which is better for which classes at what levels. Take rogues for example.. everyone SAYS multistrike for pvp as sub. Everyone USES mastery as sub at higher levels. And the PVP gear has versatility bonus when feint is used.. Subs dont feint.. we jump in, hit and git.. I dont plan to be out of stealth long enough to get a "chance" at an extra 30% damage. FFS, just give me plain old agility and leave it at that! THAT I understand!

Fortunately, my main is an enchanter, and i have multiple copies of heirlooms with different enchants.. So i can play a bit. Going to try versatility > crit on neck, back and rings and see how that goes. Hey, i can always switch it back. lol.
