WTS on Draenor EU ilevel 44 mail wrist for level 9!

Hey! I found this item in the bank of my level 9 Twink. Iam aware that there are broken tooltips since the SL prepatch, but i thought that those items would show there indended itemlevel when you try to equip them. The wrist item i found shows a level 9 requirement on the item and also when you try to equip it. I provide a screenshot of me trying to equip it on a level 1 character ---> says i need to be level 9 to equip it. I also provide a second screenshot of me trying to equip it on a level 10 (doesnt show a required level) ---> says the item will be soulbound if i do so.

I would like to get some information how this actions looked on items with a bugged tooltip since iam 99% sure that the item i have is unique and different. If it appears i made another bugged tooltip thread without new information this thread can be closed instantly ;)

in Before Merlin. I’m gonna report this as a bug so you can’t have fun. jk i’m not reporting as i have some cool bugged gear as well. il 47 boots and a il 48 two handed sword i haven’t equipped yet. i also confirmed on ptr
 
For real though. There will be haters that will probably report.

I am beyond curious how the hell that even happened, I didn't see anything like that even during the shadowlands prepatch when legion dungeon drops were still bugged.

Aside from it being item level 44, how the hell did it come to require level 9 to equip? As far as I know, that item can drop requiring level 6 or 14, but I am not aware of any way to get legion green's to drop requiring level 9. Even If it was generated prior to the squish, then it would require 40-45 or something.

I would be very interested to know the circumstances of how this item came to be, as it stands, I don't even have a guess.

If I HAD to guess, maybe it had something to do with a lockbox? maybe there was some short period where if a high level rogue unlocked a leystone lockbox, looked at it to generate the item, but not loot it, and then send it to the level 9 open it?

Also, of ALL items that could have been, the fact that it's a mail wrist piece is super ideal. I'm still trying to find a good mail wrist with socket and tert for Arewurd, shit's hard to find.

Was back in legion when i looted it. It was ilevel 650 for level 98. Kept it in my bank since then.
 
Back then i had this ilevel 450 epic Legion BoE Neck without levelrequirement on my 19 Warrior. Someone here on Xpoff assumed that it was looted from the mobs shown in the screenshot (it was not). These mobs were lootable for all levels (bug or not i dont know), the level restriction was active at that time. Since i couldnt equip the wrists back then i just put them into my bank. Yes, iam happy now i did.
 
Ahh, so it is a pre squish item, that required level 98 at the time, but was looted on your level 19 during a window in which this was possible.

Now my only question is why it squished to require the same level as the character who looted it, rather than than the level requirement being tied to the items' original level requirement.

Wild Theory: All wow BOE items have a hidden data flag tied to the level of the character that first looted it, probably added when the first level scaling changes were introduced in legion, but not yet coded at the time to account for characters that low looting such items. So it gets flagged as level 19, but does not actually scale down at the time it was looted, then stashed in the bank as a fully generated item. Fast forward to the Shadowlands squish, this item get's squished to item level 44, but due to the bugged data flag from a level 19 looting a level 98 mob BOE, the level requirement gets squished from 19 to 9, resulting in this glorious pair of bracers.

Either way, very jealous of those, legendary find my friend!

Thanks! :) Something like this came to my mind aswell. I wont use it myself tho since i wont play 20´s that much and if i do i will play my Ret.

I have a TON of ultra high iLvL bugged gear on my 10 Hunter, which is why I never equip it when in a group, nor log out with any of it on ;)
