Will Blizzard fix the hit/secondary stat problems?

Do you trust Blizzard to have successfully fixed the hit bug for 5.3?

Edit: I think they may have done it! Although it does say something when everyone is ecstatic when the game is fixed, when it probably shouldn't have been broken in the first place :p

Although right now it's saying my hit rating is 38, even though My gear is only providing me with 15 (on my warlock)... something a bit weird is going on.

Final count:
1 person believed it would actually be fixed.
35 didn't think it would happen.
5 people "didn't know" what the hit bug was... (Nice DV lol)

With 5.3 coming out tomorrow, I thought I'd see how many people actually believe that the hit bug will be fixed...

The only thing I can find that has Blizzard acknowledging that they are trying to fix the problem with the leveling battlegrounds by 5.3 was this very short tweet from Holinka:

Holinka's tweet

Holinka states "Yes we have adjusted this in 5.3"......

Based on this (and anything else you may have seen), do you trust that Blizzard has successfully identified the problem, and actually fixed it?

I'm interested to see what the f2p's general opinion of Blizzard is.

Personally, I am f2p because I no longer trust Blizzard enough to make the best games with the best intentions for the price they ask. They often make dubious choices, and take far too long to fix major issues as proven with this hit bug which affects all levelling battlegrounds. I believe WoW could be so much better than it is, and I'm not willing to pay for what this current game is. I still love the base gameplay of WoW, which is why I play f2p despite the 24's ruining it. The base game is still great, but the overall game ain't worth a constant stream of money.

I like Blizz, but Im finding it hard to put trust in them. The most I can do is sit back and expect what I expect, and hope Im dissapointed.

I DO believe in blizzard!
I do believe in blizzard
I... do believe in blizzard?
I DONT believe in blizzard

fixing stuff is hard, its easier to forget anout your problems and play end-game.

Fixing stuff isn't hard. Some game developers are just bad at it, and don't do it promptly, or frequently.

The named updates for GW2 include new content (except for Shadow of the Mad King and Wintersday, which are the seasonal events), as well as a complete rebalance/fix pass on all class abilities. There are also smaller regular class balance changes spread throughout the other patches.

You could make the argument that GW2 is a newer game, and that's why it's getting patched more often, but between release and TBC, WoW had 42 patches in 25 months (2004-11-07 to 2006-12-05). Compare that to the 68 patches above in 9 months for GW2. Also take into account that WoW has millions of subscribers, while GW2 is free to play after buying the game, supported by microtransactions.

If you're paying for WoW, you should be asking where your money is going, because it isn't going into the game you're paying for.

(And before someone chimes in again with that 'WoW is the better game because it has more players' crap: WoW has more players because it will run on the cheapest PoS PCs. I've had PMs from people asking me about upgrades, and one of them is currently running F2P WoW on an 11 year old PC. GW2 needs a PC half as old. How many of WoW's players do you think would be playing another MMO, if their computer was good enough to allow them the choice?)

Is mine the 11 yr old? o_O I thought it was only like 6.. Although I completely agree with this lol. Been wanting to try GW2 out but I heard it takes alot better comp and I would have to uninstall wow and deal with horrible gameplay with GW2.. WoW is just convenient

Are most of those hotfixes? Maybe Gw2 is just a more broken game /trollface

No really though, most of the players here aren't spending anything at all so there money isn't going anywhere near blizzards pockets.

But you're right, you would think with a billion dollar a year salary, wow would be fucking immaculate. My guess is most of it is going to other, newer projects.

I was just going by the release date for the CPU, but I guess Dell could still have been selling that model 6 years ago. I did get GW2 running on a 2005 HP desktop that used to be a school computer, that I upgraded with a $30 graphics card, but the frame rate was around 10 fps. That was in the middle of a city though. The 5v5 sPvP matches would probably be a little better. WvWvW would be a no go though. You can have over 100 players on screen at the same time, all casting spells.

Those are all patches that needed a game client update to be downloaded, I've got no idea about the server hotfixes because they don't get listed. I have seen a half dozen server restarts and small downloads happen in the past month, that weren't on the patch list though.

I haven't played WoW in ages, but I had to download 5.2 for WoW so I could check that the addon was working. When I logged in again a week or so ago to check a character who'd dropped off the armory, I was surprised to see no downloads happen, I was expecting something after over a month.

Most of it will probably be going into the pockets of the shareholders, even the new projects aren't seeing what they could be.

for them, end game are more important.

no, I don't believe blizzard, it not the company we used to know.
maybe i'm paranoid but, number of subscribers on each quarters are important now.
so I believe they push the release of 5.3 before June.

so if spell hit not fix in the 1st week, i'm re-rolling fotm or class that is least effect by spell hit, and named it "fixspellhit" or something like that until its fixed.

Asus Z92J here, 9years old i think.

Blizz did fix secondary stats being applied. They're now applied as a level 24. Their first fix was to remove and re-equip all gear as you zoned in, which made spawn gankers in the FR happy, and no one else. That's since been fixed too. Properly this time. The entire 5.2 patch has not fixed spell hit for low level BGs though. Perhaps 5.3 will be different, but I'll believe that when I see it.

Subscribers and profits have always been more important than free accounts. It's a business. That should be no surprise to anyone. Of course BG levelers and twinks are also affected by this, so I expect it to be fixed at some point. Here's hoping 5.3 is that point.

It looks like it affects every bracket up to lvl cap. Cynwise dissects patch 5.2's battleground scaling I imagine it'll be fixed either this patch or next patch.

Thats promising Footman.

Cynwise wrote this last week:

"After the BG scaling changes of 5.2 there wasn’t any advantage to staying at level 85 in the 85-89 bracket, so I’ve been slowly leveling Cynwise up to 89. This decision proved to be shortsighted, as it looks like the scaling changes are getting fixed in 5.3 – but I was already level 86 and lost 25% of my secondary stats."

Not sure where that comes from or exactly what he's talking about but it looks promising.

Wait - you don't play but you keep tabs on the add on? Kudos - you're a good egg. Thanks man!

On topic - wait & see. I'll play (haha) with the cards that are dealt us.

The problem is that Cynwise doesn't touch on the actual bug with baseline spells not scaling up. Tweeting about the "hit bug" in response to a post about secondary stat scaling doesn't actually accomplish very much. They did actually fix the major obvious issues with scaling - people complaining about missing makes it look like they're struggling to hit cap when their secondary stats scale down in BGs.

It's feasible that one or two bug report posts could slip through the cracks - it's hard to make sure an issue gets fixed when no one articulates it to you. Actually bringing up the issue to Holinka on twitter (ideally with a link to DV's bug post) would go much further to generate a fix than a poll complaining about blizzard's service on tinkinfo.

Here's the patch history up to the present time for WoW, compared to patches for GW2 over the period since MoP (WoW in blue, GW2 in red):

I'm sure GW2 is really on top of everything, but you're counting patches as the primary indicator of fixes/updates when the two companies appear to use them very differently. Looking over the GW2 patch notes, the vast majority of them read exactly the same as hotfix notes from WoW. Using client patches over server side hotfixes for minor fixes/adjustments doesn't make them better. Not saying you're wrong - I don't know because I don't play/follow GW2 - but your argument is no less flawed than "WoW is better because so many people play it".

GW2 PvP is boring and just is about the same as WoW, but it does give you a fake sense of being more complicated because you can dodge abilities. Wouldn´t be the first time people are amazed by niche games.

Thread related bla bla: I would just remove hit and exp from the game altogether. Maybe replace it with some other stat. Hit and Exp both become worthless past some threshold like Defense did.
