There are only a few things that have stayed constant in the Middle East. And one of them has been that it has been in a constant state of conflict.

The Middle East was at peace under the Ottoman Empire. When the Empire fell, western powers drew imaginary borders, which was bound to make the Middle East in a state of conflict.
