I could see WoW going completely f2p with paid transactions a year after MoP's release. Subs are draining and if this expansion is any bit as dry as the last two, people will resub for the first 3-6 months, experience what's fun, and leave once more.
Just a wild guess of mine... But Blizzard has been moving towards f2p over the years with cosmetic (pets/mounts) and character (race/transfer/server) changes; they're expensive yet people still do them en masse. We will see though!

I actually saw this last night before the edit/after the first edit, I didn't think it was hostile at all (even as the person it was mainly directed at lol). I don't agree with Lich's assessment lumping fully twinked p2p 20s in with f2ps either. The gap between p2p and f2p 20s is definitely bigger, but I think you underestimate the difference between p2p 20s/24s. I'm not just trying to justify my 20 mage (Armory), as I fully admit that it can be straight up OP. Without hunters to keep me in check (or a couple rogues sitting on me constantly, I guess), its absolutely faceroll. I wouldn't play it much in a world without OP hunters/increasing 24s, but that's certainly not the case in this bracket right now.
For comparison's sake, here are the chardevs for the gear setup I do or would use for a f2p, p2p 20 and 24 horde mage, respectively:
F2P 20 Mage (1247 health, 162 sp)
P2P 20 Mage (1267 health, 228 sp)
24 Mage (1428 health, 258 sp)
The thing that bothered me most about 24s as a f2p was the additional ~15% chance to miss and the additional resists from Gnomer gear. Not being hit/spell pen capped in pvp sucks, especially when you can't do anything about it. A 200 health increase alone isn't absolutely game-breaking, but the additional misses/resists add up. Sometimes it sucked having 24s hit me like a truck, but the worst part was always when I'd play it perfectly and things just wouldn't work. An earthbind/polymorph resist, a fear miss, things like that were what frustrated me personally. I know I have a major advantage, but at least I give people the opportunity to outplay me (and they do on a regular basis
)But yeah, if you want to add my reasoning to the list, I play my fully twinked p2p 20 mage because I actually like pugging (there's a lot of people spread out across servers in this bracket that I really enjoy running into in game), but I don't like the amount of DPS that's typically in a horde pug team. I rarely queue with more than one or two other people on it, I prefer my f2ps for premades. I don't have an inflated sense of self-worth, don't think I'm any better than 24s or a savior for 650 HP Portuguese speakers. I'm just playing a game and having fun doing it.
Also, the tears of 24 pallies are delicious. I think of it in a rock/paper/scissors type of way. Geared 20/24 hunters are scissors, 24 pallies are rock, and I'm paper!

Why I play 24... I did all the leveling to 85 on 5 toons. Got tired of the grind for the best gear. Got tired of the 2+ hours at a time of raiding. With a 24, I throw on a bunch of heirlooms and trinkets, use bought chinese gold to get some decent stuff from the AH and go in the BGs and roll some f2P and leveling toons... ahhh.. it is still fun, specially when u make an odd-ball toon, like a squishy disco-priest in shades and blue coveralls. The haste disco can plant a hunter or rogue in the ground quick... fun fun fun.

i actually don't understand what everyone is complaining about if you want a game where u allways win no matter what go play minecraft or something,i have a 24 but i never play it because it's boring thats my opinion some people may like it but thats there fullest right to do so

Sometimes the health doesn't matter. It's the 100+ agility/strength/intellect he has on you.

The only thing that scares me rather than annoys me or pisses me off is a single geared and enchanted p2p THAT CAN GET ON MY LEVEL. I see about 6 people on Vashj that can, not accounting for people I have never met.

40% random bads that don't have a clue
40% decent players that tried to gear but don't know BiS
15% hardcore twinks, fully BiS and skilled. (my level)
