Is there any proof of whom or who originally thought of twinking?

I mean, is there a specific person or group that started it all? I started playing in TBC so I wasn't around for the oh so glorious years of Vanilla WoW...

I assume since 19s are sooo much better than any other bracket, and the easiest to make that they were the original twinks but is there any hard evidence? A documentary idea is brewing but probably not and just another bad idea of mine...

Also, who thought of the term twink and why oh why would they name it that? Why not like Alphas or Omegas (@Dorigon) or something a little less insulting/taboo?

The first twink I ever encountered was back in very early vanilla before I had my own account. He was a 29 undead rogue named Vinsang and he inspired me to become a twink on alliance so we could fight back because he would dominate BG's solo style. It's my understanding that twinking as a concept and name existed prior to world of warcraft. I've never been able to figure out where the name came from, and i've tried. They existed on Everquest tho.

I forgot to mention this was on Argent Dawn which was a beta server, I met this guy shortly after the game was released and got to know him and he told me about twinks in other games, I'm assuming this guy was one of the first twinks given the circumstances.

Twink is also the word used to describe an "alt" on german servers. I'm not sure if this is a translation that has been abbreviated or just something that evolved naturally. Alt is a way to describe a twink, so it may in fact turn out that the concept of twinking originated, or atleast was named as such by a german MMO community.

The original tinking does not originate from wow, but rather games like everquest, diablo or ultima online

The term has been around since the pen and paper version of D&D. We used it in the early 80's when I was just a wee nipper. And at D&D "tournaments" at college they were not allowed. Banned some might even say...
I used to "twlink" the hell out of Bards. The term has been around a long long time before MMOs got started.

The first twink I ever met was a 29 rogue, can't remember the name tho. I was nine year old at the time, it was in the first year of World of Warcraft. This was the day I started twinking.

Maybe it comes from something older than WoW but i've never seen a twink on other games i played ? (mainly Diablo as Eriwen said there were twinks on this game)

Now lets see you answering the Ops questions. I did that actually with my post. Rest of the posts above are just guesses, Ally comes pretty close with D&D, I played that so much but the rest of the posts are nonsense just like yours.

You didn't though. The thread implies previous knowledge of the definition of twink (Which is what you brought to the thread) and instead asks the question, how and why did this become a gaming term to describe what we do today. And who was the first individual or group of people to do so.

Answered in general where the word actually comes from. Who introduced this to gaming I do not know but it certainly points to the gay slang

Answered. I quoted blizzards definition of tinkering in my post so it was even before wow and like Ally said, and I experienced the same, we used it in D&D and AD&D already in the 80s.

There wasn't instanced pvp before level 20 in early vanilla so the oldest twinks in wow are 20-29s. My old 20 twink is at level 60 now.

Yeah, I was having trouble comprehending what you meant actually. I wasn't baiting. Thanks for clearing it up, I hadn't drawn the sugar daddy comparison or I just glossed over it entirely in your post due to lack of sleep amongst other things.
