Where has all the kindness gone?

I just logged on tonight to joke around and found myself in a different atmosphere.

Whether its the 19 geared f2p trolling me for key-board turning (was using my laptop w/o a mouse atm).

Or the holy pally telling in all caps " YOU SUCK" "I DIDN'T EVEN EXO SPAM" "LEARN TO PLAY NUB" to a poor mage in front of Orgrimar after beating him in a duel.

Or the hostility met to differing opinion in our little channel.

It seems the overturning influx of individuals has changed the camaraderie amongst the f2p community, at least on AP horde. I spent a large amount of time gearing/achievement hunting/transmoging my toon as have many others and it pains me to see this change. I log on only to kibitz with friends once made and just have a good laugh and a little fun, but I am now met with this. I hope this display was a fluke and will either die out or never return, or the f2p community may see less and less of myself and most likely other like-minded players.

Dare I say the word: reroll?

Yeah, the community's really gone downhill. I left AP months ago and changed my forum name because I said one little thing that the more popular users didn't agree with that was completely oriented with the game and was immediately shunned by the F2P channel. It was about like, gear choices, I presented a civil argument regarding gear choices, two people that I won't named instantly flamed me. After that I was just called a newb by everyone because AP's full of talented players and sheep, but mostly sheep.

Outside of Yde/Rhae and like, 4-7 other people on these forums/AP you're not likely to see any sympathy.

I've been there though, sorry you had a bad experience with the AP community but it's not uncommon as of lately. I myself am just jaded from them. I rerolled Haomarush.

That's unfortunate to hear, The sad reality is that people change usually for good or for worse. I'm not saying anyone on AP is a bad person because i'm not really acquainted with that many people on AP but i do know people have their good days and their bad days.

Hopefully this is just s small bump in the ever changing life cycle of the AP community, if some people continue to act inappropriate or rude, you may just have to deal with them accordingly, don't use scrupulous methods though.

It's just a shame because most people that leave don't go back and AP gets slowly populated by rude trolls. I can't see myself going back to AP and potentially wasting time gearing/leveling toons there again just for the community to go sour for me again.

I feel like people like that exist everywhere on the internet (too big of vaginas to talk like that irl so they do it here and in game) and I think all we can do is deal with them. As for people who feel the need to leave, that's on you. I know you may have had a bad experience but IMO ap is the only way to go if you really wish to enjoy all that trial f2p has to offer for you. Of course some players have become an exception on other servers but no community can compete with Aerie Peaks. And I mean in numbers or in overall ability to play this game ;)

This is why i refuse to play AP Alliance, and started a small group on Drenden and Steamweedle. I'm perfectly fine without everyone fighting and calling each others bads and saying I'm best ur trash lolol. I got tired of it and only log on to talk to mindyy or whatnot.

Yes I know I ended my post with reroll, but that was more of an extreme comment to make a point; I would never reroll, I enjoy the good more so than the distaste of the bad. I was just surprised by how much the community could change in such a small amount of time. I saw the transformation occurring over the past two to three months (moreso than the previous time period), but I have not been around so much with the end of school and the release of D3. So when I spent some time with the newer population, I was quite surprised by the rate a which degradation had occurred.

I'm not so worried about kindness as I am about people not acting like they're 6. I could care less if some stud is try to offend me, but i seriously h8 it when people just act like they are mentally ill! I think there is a thread under this one that clearly explains what I DONT like about AP.

I dont like most of the new people on AP, especially the ones that act like they know me.

That feeling when you long onto AP horde and know exactly 0 people

Xbox teamspeak is horrible, bunch of 9 year old russians screaming "HAHAHAH NEWB! MOTHERLAND!". Yeah it's even worst on AP Alliance. I logged on the other day to see how people are doing and most of the old AP Ally players don't even use F2P chat anymore, you see them congregating in goldshire or they just form parties and chat there.

There are just as many kind new players as there are rude old schoolers. I think you had a fluke, Acai. I would agree that there are a couple of more prominent newer members that are rude, but it's not as if there weren't people who played earlier that are similarly rude :p
The biggest problem with the f2p addon is that we can't screen people, but what can you do?

I miss you acai! It's been too long since we've played together or went exploring.
