I have been recently researching doing a resto druid in the 29 bracket, and have been receiving a lot of negative feedback or general flaming of what a bad idea it is for this bracket. Can I ask why? Are the other healers just tremendously better then a resto druid? If thats the case then which brackets should i look into taking my resto druid? (19,39,49,etc.) I am currently level 10 and just wanting to know which bracket will allow me to shine as a healer. This question is posed based upon 3.1.3 and responses based upon 3.2 are also helpful in judging for future things.

Thanks for any input you may have!

P.S. I made a chardev planner for 29 twink resto druid. It is a mixture of balanced regen, stam, mana, and SP. If i could maybe get a few suggestions or critiques on it that would be great!

so basically if im a 29 i just go balance and dps? if i wanted to go balance i would go to 49.

My primary twink is a 29 resto druid. There is NOTHING wrong with 29 resto druid twinking.

I top the healing charts, and save ass the same as any priest, shammie, or pallie healer.

Personally, I find resto twinking fun and a completely seperate style away from the other healing classes. Resto druid healing is unique unto itself, and requires a bit more skill to play. Unlike other heal classes, there is no 1 button spam healing..but rather a juggling act of cycling hot heals.

Play one.

When I first made Vinod some 2 years ago, I had a similar negative reception. Since, I've been rocking the charts and players have loved the heals. Refer to my 29 resto guide for info on this matter. I have played 29 druid balance, and found it lackluster.

can someone atleast recomend to me if 29 is not a great resto druid bracket which bracket i should look into taking my druid?

yes I know that, but in terms of comparing to a shaman, priest, or paladin how does a druid compare healing wise, utility wise, and mana wise to those classes at 29 for healing?

personally i like resto druids at 29, not enough of em imo. good talents, good glyph choices, good choice of healing abilities...abolish poison, remove curse, shifting, etc.

29 druids are on par to all the other healing classes - like I said in my last post..I top the charts the same as any other

Resto druids require some skill and though, verses 1 button spam healing. A player who really knows how to play a resto, is a force to be seen.

does omen of clarity help much on the mana issue side that people keep telling me they have?

i dont run into too many mana issues myself, but i geared for mana regen although the spirit nerf hurt a little to my out of combat mp5, my in combat mp5 has increased slightly. omen does help i find, smacking someone with your weap and having it proc when you're oom and need a heal is great.

The reason everyone hates on 29 resto druids, is because the other options for heals are better. Most 29 "resto" druids right now are speccing into fc spec with resto gear, so they can have some survivability while healing.

All of this is going to change when the new patch hits and druids get travel form. This will allow you to spec fully resto, but still have mobility and hence more survivability.

Basically resto druids are sub par right now, but as soon as the patch hits they'll be bumped up likely just above pallies, and maybe around = to shams. (Priests have always and will always be the best 29 heals because of dispel.)

Dispel is the same as a shamans purge last time I checked

I fully, and completely disagree.

With various forms, hot healing, abolish poisons, and remove curse....resto druids are not inferior atm.

I have ample mobility, healing abilities, and many tools on hand.

You keep talking up Resto, but your armory page shows you as "lackluster" (your word) Balance. What gives?

~shrugs~ Playing with a different spec. I wanted to see the effects of my current gearing / sp rating on a balance build. It has nothing to do with my preference for healing. Nothing personal, but your comment feels like a cheap jab.

Except in reality, where it isnt.

Vinod: How many classes use curses? Oh, and cant mages decurse? Also, last time I checked, shamans and pallies can also cure poison. You know what else curses poisons? Consumables.

What else dispels? Hmmm...thats a tough call. Other classes? No. Consumables? Nope.

Its not that big of a deal though, cuz i mean what do dispels even work on anyways? Oh ya, just about everything.

Druids are the worst heals right now, but not by much. Priests and shams have a much bigger box of tools to work with, pallies have better mitigation, and a few really good tricks of their own. Druids are good, they just arent as good as the other options. In the next patch they will be.

Again, I disagree. At the end of a bd my heals are on par / roughly the same as any priest, shammie, or pallie. The same can be said for the other resto druid twinks I have seen who play.

If resto druids were the worst healers, then how it it I place and rank the same as "the best"?

All the next patch offers is travel form. While nice, that does not make them the 'best healers' or change their healing abilities. Bear form is great for tanking / flag holding, and cat form great for stealth / dash.
