What Do You Miss About Cata?

For me, I miss the simplicity of everything...

1. Mostly Every trial was new to the twinking scene so it was a fun learning experience for everyone.
2. IMO, classes in general were more fun to play. Rogues had ST and sprint which made them fun to play and slightly OP arguably, Mages had silence, pallies had HL, warriors with piercing howl, etc.
3. Hunters were OP(nothing new here)
4. Talents. Even though trials had only 5 talent points, they were fun to experiment with and some even required some theorycrafting with certain specs.
5. Alliance Queue times were shorter. Lol jk, US ally Q's will always be terrible :)
5. Healing was actually fun and required some effort. MOP made healing basically mindless spamming(*cough druids cough*) which in my mind really killed the meaning of being a good healer.
6. The community was much better back in cata imo. People were friendlier, friendships were being created and cherished and everyone was slowly realizing and embraced just how large this bracket had become in such a short amount of time.

For all of these reasons and more, I enjoyed Cata much more than I enjoy MOP as a trial, and I also think that Cata holds that very special place in all of our hearts for many many reasons. What are your thoughts?

I miss the talent system , and the cata night. Nights in Cata were more like very dark nights thats y i liked Cata Nights. Some good players left WoW F2P and i miss those players.

Agms valuability.

I miss the hotshots i gave up in Cata when I when Retribution for like 2 weeks. I miss my farming with 4 24 hunters and actually having to type orders cause I didn't have vent.
I miss having 100 mana enchant before it was kool haha
I miss saying ha ha ha No anal and doing it like a reflex not like a duty haha
I miss looking like a hunter when I ran with hunters
I miss hunting down 24 hunters who tried to hide.
I miss having to actually have to switch to my mana gen set and wait for like 3.5k mana to fill back up
I miss the hunter vs hunter battles in mid where i had to spam heal people and actually took skill to keep people alive.
I miss being new the bracket so people would ask who the fuck is Duo and why is he telling me "no anal"
I miss all the Threads made, and for that we Thank you

You can still say Ha Ha Ha No A N A L ----- AS AS AS AW 5 6 5 7 ^_^
And lol ! xD

OMG no shadowstep cant play game!
Once more people value the past for more than it was.

Sorry. Maybe 2 or 3 hours. I checked all your chars armories and none of them have done something major since 2012.

2012 Woah! It's almost like I quit because of MoP, like I inferred from my last post! Hopefully with more schooling you'll be able to put these things together on your own. Nice try guessing how many hours I've played though, that's cute.

You can't handle my swag?

I didn't want to come right out and say it but I was referring to your face. I can't decide if your haircut makes you look more like a mushroom or a penis, go outside or something.

I miss never seeing pandas. It's been most of an expansion now, and they still don't belong.

I miss shadowstep as much for its flavor as for its utility. Rogues ought to feel light and agile, and independent of other players. Right now they get kited by literally every ranged spec unless you have a teammate to support you. And it feels extremely sucky and unroguelike to get unintentionally kited in stealth trying to get up to an opponent who doesn't even know you're there. MoP rogues don't feel roguelike anymore, they feel like WoW classic warriors that pop out of stealth instead of charging.

I miss Piercing Howl. Seriously.

I miss the old exorcism. It gave ret/prot an interesting decision, to completely abandon staying in melee range in order to fire a limited number of hard-hitting spells. A good player would use this to become semi-unkiteable, while bad players would gratuitously exo spam end up oom with their opponent barely scratched. I also miss how exo would blow through a holy's mana pool, making it an actual decision to switch to their damage spell (unlike denounce). Old exo took a little more skill than people appreciated, and now it is gone.

In general I miss mana bars that weren't effectively decorative.

I miss cata's Purge, or more properly, cata having things worth purging. Purge hit bubble back when pallies still used Hand of Protection. Purge hit AGM back when 1k was a mostrous absorb. Now by the time you notice an AGM, it has already absorbed 500ish damage and is barely worth the GCD. And purging ghost wolf was a much stronger move back when a shaman had to stop and re-cast it. (Though I don't miss casting ghost wolf at all)

I miss earth shield more than I can say. It made resto shams extremely durable, and let you pseudo-heal through CC. It also gave you an interesting choice of leaving it on yourself for durability, or putting it on someone else and getting to use a nifty water shield. Riptide sucks horribly by comparison. Even the large initial tick heals for less than Rejuv, the periodic ticks are weaker yet, and the spell has a 6 second cooldown just for the hell of it.

I miss having earthbind totem, which actually cared where it was positioned. Now a shaman's only totem is searing, which isn't worth tabbing over to kill, and is only worth dropping because it's technically a dps increase.

I really miss the feeling of newness everything had. One of the most fun experiences I had on a f2p was when Shft, Dragon, Sabe, Kalrena, and I went in to SMGY like it was a raid. We had little idea if it was even possible when we went in there, but we downed the final boss and worked our way a little ways into Lib, and emerged with some ideas about how to stack and gear a 5man to get even deeper in there. It's a pity we never actually went back there, because that was awesome.

And I miss the first reports when people started figuring out that they could catch sea turtles, back when it could only be done in cata areas where fishing came up as an empty loot window. It was full of mystery and rumor and counter-intuitiveness, and it was awesome seeing Rhae and Mindy on their turtles at guru.

I miss playing a cata hunter, mostly because I wasn't great at it so it wasn't excessively OP in my hands. It was nice to crutch on OP while making the transition from PvE to the PvP-only experience of 20s. I most certainly do not miss playing against cata hunters.

I miss Cer and Shft playing the hell out of the druid class back when it was objectively terrible.

I miss standing on a mushroom trying to stay awake while Lagoon committed boglord genocide beneath us for hours.

I miss there being fewer people in AP horde chat, most of whom I actually knew. These days AP horde is a stereotypical example of the eternal september effect in action.

There were a lot of things wrong with Cata f2p, and I wouldn't necessarily want to go back. But we've definitely lost some thigns as the game has moved forward.

I miss Holy Light, was alot easier to solo high level mobs on a paladin with it.
Quite happy with my hunter in MoP throughout, stacking CCing and killing healers at start of MoP was alot of fun.
Didn't play a Shadow Priest in Cata.

I miss going affliction on my lock and putting all my DoTs including Bane of Doom on EFCs then watching as they slowly die without any heals.

/cry

Uhm so I've been up since five am because I have the flu. This quote made it worth it, I like where this thread is going.

the only thing i miss in cata was being able to go to outland.

so many sights, so many apples to squish, and so many deaths just to get to the first flight path.

>: )
