I don't get the point of them making most legendaries 101 if there is no practical way of obtaining them...

As of today (yday for US) you don't get anything at all, no gold, no items, no nothing.

Oh, didn't see the conversation in this thread about world bosses not dropping gold anymore so I posted about it in the gearing thread. But yeh, I've not had any loot popup when I killed it on both my 101s today.

That being said, I don't know if it applies to sub 110, but BG chests have given out legendaries as well as Arena chests.
tldr: If you are active on a single 101, you'll end up with one eventually between bgs/dungeons if that's the case.

Do xp-off queues pop at 101 though? All the BG wins/losses for chests would surely ding you eventually from the xp gain?

Some people have claimed they've seen it but I haven't in all the dungeons I did (nor anyone I "trust"). The main reason to farm NL though is for rep - after you get exalted you get another 20k (repeatable) rep bar which awards an Emissary chest. So yeh, about 100 runs for... a small chance at a legendary. Have fun with that
Also remember to finish collecting all the Broken Isles treasure chests for another small chance.
