We can design a better system. And the desire to do so has nothing to do with personal net worth or age, and everything to do with compassion and empathy.

nobody is stopping you from helping people starving in the streets but im gonna go out on a limb and say that you dont, because you dont have enough money to sustainably do that, you just love the idea of billionaires giving you money for no reason

I actually do. But the larger point isn't my personal charity or the work I do through my church. It's that the material reality of people in my country can't systemically be improved by individual acts of generosity.

We should absolutely tax the fuck out of billionaires. Not because I think they should be punished but because society as we've currently designed it encourages the hoarding of resources and historically speaking that vast concentration of wealth never really works out too well.

I'd like to avoid 1793 the sequel, thankyouverymuch

One of us is obviously insane as we can’t both be right or even close to right. Whichever one of us is really the socialist has serious issues.

I always find it amusing when people talk about what everyone else needs.

The political spectrum is a horseshoe, the further you stray from the centre, the extremes of the right and the left are very closely related.

The furthest on the left is anarchism and the furthest political stance to the right is the liberal Nightwatchmans state.

Actually a proper Marxist will identify both republicans and democrats in the US as white supremacist and fascist parties. At least with the Republicans and trump their racism is easy to demonstrate to folks, whereas the democrats try and hide it.

Just because socialist was in the name doesn’t mean they were actually socialist. It was all a guise for hitlers racist agenda

Horseshoe theory is silly. Political alignments are way more complex than simple right and left. Those are just convenient descriptors.
