US Dollar Collapse

Teachers in America, in the vast majority of areas, do not get paid adequately.

As Mvq pointed out, if you factor in the fact they need a degree to be paid that little...It's absurd.

I have several teachers in my family. Many of them moved far away, to places like Alaska just to get paid adequately for their time.

What's even more upsetting, is you have Mvq here, someone who is not even from the USA, with a better grasp of the situation than people who are posting here from the USA.

well if ur really so good at it you find the jobs that pay 100k, just cause u went to school and paid them money and got a degree, i have a in B.S. in environmental chemistry, the degree requirements mean nothing on whether or not you can do the job
There arent enough 100k a year jobs for everyone thats qualified for those jobs lol.

You're essentially saying "yes yes teachers in the rural south are necessary but they shouldn't make any money"

They are better off moving and working elsewhere in the country to make more.

Which contributes to an issue in itself. And you look at the test scores and education standards in those areas. Who wants to work for peanuts when they have to invest in themselves to get their job to begin with? Where is the incentive? Yes, obviously as an educator the main incentive is to teach (as well as learn), but these people still need to make their moneys worth and earn a living as well. Teachers get paid far too little in the USA. This is a reality. A sad reality.

time to stop funding schools based on local property taxes.

this "i have a degree i deserve a certain amount of money" thought is crap
So you do not think people who have already had to pay absurd amounts, and likely go into debt to get a degree deserve a higher pay than those without one?

highschool teachers are glorified babysitters who get half the year off, fk em dude

my favourite part of this thread was when mvq said illegal immigrants are good because some of them pay tax

now ur out here arguing about different professions salaries

nope, the degree does not mean you have skill at your trade, and the greater skill should be higher paid

Certain degrees mean you did something to achieve and earn that degree.

What is your argument? Pay more to manual laborers? Skilled tradesmen? Is it that you think teachers already make comparable to x profession so therefor they should just be happy?

I'm not sure what exactly you are trying to get at.

My point, on the other hand, is simply. For the job description combined with the need of the position, as well as the requirements to get the position....The pay is far too low in the majority of the country. Period.

36k is starting pay in one of the poorest states, does not represent the majority of the country, people are free to move from state to state

college is a joke, (unless u go to med school) :)

Jobs that require a degree pay more, are you really arguing against this fact?

Look, we’re arguing with people from irrelevant countries. If there’s 15+ US states that have a gdp higher than your entire country, your opinion doesn’t matter.

To everyone worried. Heres a list of whether youre free to keep going.

China Mexico Thailand Belgium
India Italy Australia Switzerland
Japan Turkey Taiwan Sweden
Germany South Korea Poland Romania
Russia Spain Nigeria Kazakhstan
Indonesia Canada Pakistan
Brazil Saudia Arabia Malaysia
UK Iran Philippines
France Egypt The Netherlands
Argentina Bangladesh South Africa
Colombia Vietnam UAE
Iraq Algeria Singapore

If you live in one of these countries you qualify for the thread.

Illegal immigrants are good for any developed country, every meta analysis will support this.

did bill gates ever get his degree? didn't he drop out?

As you can see, on average, people with a degree get paid more. This study was conducted in Australia.
