Anyone who falls for the siren’s song of socialism after all the harm it’s caused in the last century is either ignorant of history, unable to think critically or both. Not sure which category you fall into, but I’d figure it out if I were you.

If you look at the happiest countries according to the United Nations, the majority of them are quite socialist.

Sweden and Denmark are like brothers. They aren't the same, but they are similar. Reason for this is that they are learning from each other through their mistakes and what they do right.
Figured as much. Good method, really.

Yep, also many have high amounts of freedoms *gasp* as well as quality of life.

There’s a marketplace for labor. Invest in making yourself more valuable and you’ll get paid more.
I know how to play the capitalist game and Im doing quite well at it, thank you. That doesnt stop me from knowing the deck is stacked and the rules are bullshit.

Im far more Danton than I am a sans culottes.

so the nationalistic argument you're making doesn't really apply to Denmark

wasnt going for a nationalistic argument if it came off like that, im not an expert on denmark like i am on the anunnaki, more of a cultural population scheme issue

You too could choose to forego instant gratification and accumulate capital - and then invest it and hire others and create something other people are willing to buy. If you do and you fail, you suffer the loss. If you succeed, you keep the profit. Simple concept for most.

I’ve found that anything according to the United Nations is suspect....what a shit organization that is. The US should pull out completely,

Regardless, many polls of citizens do claim what you’re saying. Yet it’s also well documented that those same countries have by far the highest usage of anti depressants. So maybe they’re artificially happy! Personally I don’t think those polls capture it - people just bitch a lot in some countries, the US population loves to, and they have a party misleading them that business is the enemy.

Thank you, I was unsure how 18th century capitalism worked

Ah. What a shocker...Countries with good medical coverage use it for treatments proven effective.

We have free healthcare, and thus if you have mental issues you can get help for free. This means more people are on antidepressants as a result. This also means that our suicide rates are much lower. If you look at America, getting mental help from a psychiatrist, not just a therapist, because remember: Only psychiatrists can prescribe drugs and thus they are MUCH more expensive. And then if we look at the suicide rates, you have the highest suicide rate out of any country in the western world.

So that's why you'll see our antidepressant rate to be so high even tho' we're supposedly one of the most happy countries. And then we have America, the country with the highest antidepressant usage AND a country with a huge barrier of access for mental help. Which makes the antidepressant usage stat in the US so much scarier.

You’re under misconceptions about us healthcare. The vast majority of Americans have health insurance, and the vast majority that don’t are eligible for free health insurance for the poor but too lazy or ignorant to apply for it. Further, anti depressants can be prescribed by your pcp here and most are.

to be clear, you don’t have free health Care - there is no such thing. Your government takes over half your earnings. You’re paying for it.

Indeed, we have much cheaper and better health care than you. :)

Over half is a massive exaggeration.

And that is what taxes should be used for. Not a bloated military budget that takes up nearly 60% of the budget.

Also, those free health insurances vary by state. You are simply assuming anyone who doesn't have health insurance in the USA is lazy or ignorant?

Ah, yes. Similar to the GOP rhetoric "Just stop being poor. If you worked harder, you'd not be poor!". Absolute hogwash.

Not better. You may have some better outcomes in general things like life expectancy due to your homogeneous population....our minorities have terrible health outcomes. But when it comes to cars for say cancer, nobody comes close to the US. We’re light years ahead on stuff like that.

wont find that reading the United Nations report though, which will claim that third world Cuba has better healthcare than the US.

MYT, do you happen to believe that the USA is the best country in almost all aspects? Because you pretty much seem to just go "Nope, nope, nope. USA is the best." and ignore anything said, and say anything bad about the USA is a lie.

I wonder where I've heard that rhetoric.

no, half is a massive understatement. You’re not very familiar with European levels of taxation I see...or how they layer it in by adding VATs etc.

You think the US sends 60% of its federal budget on defense? Damn you’re smoking the good stuff. You’re also smoking the even better stuff if you think the world would be peaceful without its sole benevolent super power. The two world wars shows what happens when there’s a vacuum - socialist dictatorships try to take over the world.

and yes, most poor people in the US are poor due to their poor choices. Maybe they got dealt a bad hand, made far worse by attending a shit school due to the unholy alliance between the democrats and teachers union that wants kids to fail to implement socialism. But here, you can still make it. It doesn’t take generations to become wealthy like in Europe - you can be self made here.
