What is actual socialism supposed to look like?
"social ownership is the common element shared by its various forms."

Small outtake from the general ideals. This probably states it best.

Everyone waves an amount of their earnings for the good of the population. Because everyone does this, the government can spend this money on things such as, but not limited to, healthcare systems, public space (think libraries, schools, parks etc), roads, you probably get the idea.

Because everyone chips in, everyone owns it collectively.

That doesn't mean you can't have those things without socialism, obviously. It's just a different way of approaching it.

So in other words, true socialism means raising taxes higher and allocating that extra income to take care of people more?

I think in the very base form, nobody earns anything and everything is free. That would work if there weren't any human minds involved. If everything is free then people won't want to go to work, and in turn things can't be free.

So the modern day socialism is closer to what you just said, yes. I wouldn't call it ''take care of people more'', it's more like spending money on let's say an accountant to make sure things run smoothly. People as a collective are stupid, so they need a smart person to run the show.

I like pickles.

And the current PotUS did/does?
More people out of work than ever.
More people on Welfare in the history of the US.
Took on more debt than all other PotUS COMBINED. 22,000,000,000 (gotta pay for all that "free" stuff)
Nearly 93,000,000 Americans over 16 not working.
No one in 1 in 5 households working.
Less than 50% current approval rating.
Over 70% of Americans don't like the way the country is headed.

Yep, a good choice for "Hope and Change".
I don't know why you're talking to me about Obama. Also, why the hell would I take you seriously if you make comments about what you think a video is about, but haven't watched.....I'm suppose to debate this stuff with you now? Yeah, no thanks.

The wild Allybeboba should not be engaged with when outside of it's natural habitat.

This is his natural habitat. Look at that post count!

It should be getting close to 1500. I can't be bothered to scroll back and look.

Anyone that is ignorant enough to hate on Obama's lack of action should first realize that we have a republican majority in congress.
Hopefully the U.S. voting demographic varies drastically from the demographic if xpoff.com. Rip Bernie, but I'll most definitely vote for Hillary.

Kek @ socialism. Who pays for this "free" stuff? The government... That eventually goes broke. That is why socialism does not last.
How big is your country?
Give me your country's top ten best inventions/corporations and we can talk Socialism.
How about how much your country gives to the developing world? List your country's top ten charitable organizations.

We have free health care. No one is denied health care here if they can't afford it. It is actually against the law to do so. In addition, we have had free clinics/hospitals for decades.
I'll try this:
1. 5-6 million people.
2. The phonograph, the speaker, insulin, Lego, Maersk, Novo Nordisk
3. And we are among the only 5 countries in the world that live up to the minimum aid to development countries of 0,7% of your countries BNP, set forth by the UN

I like how he completely ignores anything that points out mistakes in his arguments.

Pretty much. That or he claims that it's not actually his argument and he's just playing devil's advocate. Quite transparent.

Knight Solaire for president 2016. Make Lordran great again!

Have to take into account the demographics of this website.
Margin of error for this poll +/- 99.99%

1. About the size of a large city.
2. Not even close to 10. Phonograph was invented by Edison(American). Insulin was discovered by a Canadian( I don't recall the name).
Legos are fantastic invention! I'd like to think they helped push me into my career path that I enjoy to this very day.
3.Kek... Had to google that info I bet. Give us some credible info off the top of your head. For stance, surely there are some charitable organizations that give. Red Cross, Habitate for Humanity, American Cancer Association(my wife volunteers on this one), American Heart Association, YMCA, Habitate for Humanity, Doctors Without Borders(my daughter volunteers on this), Wounded Warrior Project( my father and I volunteer with this), Toys for Tots(my whole family helps with this during Christmas), UINCEF, Goodwill etc...

At any rate have a good Sunday everyone gotta go!!
1. Yes, your point?
2. You didn't ask for a specific amount.
It was a professor from my country who helped the canadians develop the insulin, he later went on to recieve the nobel prize.
And I probably should have been more specific with the phonograph as well; it was an inventor from my country that made it possible to record sound, making it possible for Edison to later invent the phonograph.
I listed Lego because you asked for big company names.
And I actually forgot one of the most prominent figures; Niels Bohr, and Skype of course.
I don't know what point you're trying to make? That 'socialist' countries don't produce big companies or any significant inventions, because of our progressive tax system supposedly killing the incentive for entrepeneurs? (At least that's the usual argument) obviously we have plenty of companies and inventions to prove this wrong, and Forbes actually named my country the best country in the world to run a bussiness. (Not trying to brag, just answering your questions + a little extra info just for you)

3. Of course I don't know how much we donate to development countries on top of my head. And in my country we rely more on the social security system, a system we call flexicurity, than on charitable donations and organizations. This applies to our aid to development countries as well, as a you can obviously see by the 0,7% of our BNP

It all about growth. That does not happen often in a socialist government. They are too busy just trying to keep their head above water to worry about the future.
And you base this on... what exactly?

You've ignored my posts where I point out that your idea on what socialism is doesn't reflect the truth. Stop ignoring posts that point out flaws?
Oh ok so when it comes to Europe it's all just stories, but when it comes to the US, that's how it is.

Gotcha.

And I'm sure that this diversity you're talking about can only be found in The US, and everywhere else it's all the same people living together.
These edits make it impossible to write coherent responses.

The government does not pay for the ''free'' stuff. The people collectively pay for it. Everyone chips in a little bit, so that everyone can get the healthcare they deserve when they end up needing it. It's not a matter of -if- they'll need it. Everyone -will- eventually need it. And then others will have made sure that they can get it.
