Transmog Glitch by Mvq

I remember about 4 years ago, I found a glitch what some would call a dupe. I was so proud of my "dupe" that I posted it to ownedcore where it absolutely blew up and as far as I know people made an absurd amount of gold using my method. About 2 days went by and my thread had hundreds of replies and I had requested to admins for my thread to be deleted as I was nervous I didn't see the potential of my glitch and I didn't want it to be fixed. It was too late. About a week later this glitch was making rounds and was patched. Moral of the story, if you don't want something fixed, don't release it to the public in the first place.

Not ducking with you either, my video explaining it while it was active.

Problem of your story & analogy is that you posted it on OwnedCore which is much bigger than XPOff.

What's stopping anyone from reposting your thread on another site? I doubt neither the original thread nor snack's thread is only visible to members on xpoff, anyone can share this exploit however they want now. I understand your frustration, but my point is that trying to cover it up is a waste of time at this point and it just makes you look like a dick.

It hasn't been spread to other sites yet therefor it isn't too late, with your logic.

The other thing to consider is that this has far fewer applications and ramifications than a dupe or something; really the only people who`d be interested in this `sides us Twinks would be some hardcore RPers

That's literally impossible to prove, if anything it's just not apparant as it's not a particularly gamebreaking glitch, but the second you shared it here you indirectly shared it with every website. If you can't see the futility of trying to contain information at this point I'm not going to try to convince you.

Do you really disagree with the fact that the fewer people who know about something the less chance it is to be fixed?

Please quote me where I even insinuated that. I'm saying you forfeited control of the exploit when you shared it here and as snack has demonstrated, it is now public knowledge.

You're the only one who cares. And it's not because you are worried it will be fixed. You KNOW it will be fixed.

You're all about yourself, Mvq. You posted the information with intent for the community to utilize it. The community didn't stroke your shaft enough so you took it down out of spite, and now here you sit trying to make it seem like you're worried about it being fixed for being on a public forum.

But really let's break it down. Mvq got all of his mogs, so if it gets fixed you're fine, it's everyone else who gets screwed. You have no reason to care, other then the fact that you took the information down and it got put back up WITH Admins blessings.

Good, so we agree on the facts. So do you disagree with the fact that more people will know about this glitch if this thread is up, and as a result fewer people will know if it gets taken down?

If you don't disagree with this fact then you're contradicting your own arguement which is:

which TL;DR is that it'll get fixed no matter what.

You're gonna disagree on the fact that you're contradicting yourself, so let me explain to you why you are.

  1. You argue that it'll get fixed no matter what.
  2. Yet you agree with the fact that the chance of it being fixed is LOWER the LESS people know about this. You hopefully will also agree that taking this thread down will make fewer people know about this glitch, which ultimately will reduce the chance of it being fixed.

You see how those things contradict each other? It's obvious.

You make it seem like I'm entitled to share glitch. I have no reason to give it away. Yet I do, despite the fact that it'll now be in danger of being fixed. Therefor I'd expect more than 10% to show gratitude. Which didn't happen. So I took it down. If you fail to realize this logic then I've underestimated your intellect.

If you give money to a homeless person and he doesn't show gratitude by simply saying "Thanks" then you're less likely to give him money in the future. Ungrateful people do not deserve free stuff imo.

Good, so we agree on the facts.

I'm glad! I'm not going to waste my time arguing something that neither of us can prove and I urge you to do this as well. For all we know, this exploit is making rounds on RP websites and as you have already said, xpoff is a small site in the grand scheme of things. Needless to say, containing an exploit in a pond after traces of it have or will inevitabely spread to a lake seems redundant, wouldn't you say?

Now to reiterate my original point in simpler terms, you have zero control over your discovery now. Requesting censorship is setting an awful precedent for the future of this website and it would be for nothing.

btw, I don't understand how you are interpreting my argument in so many different, unintended ways, but I applaud you for your creativity if nothing else.

Lol what?
1. I never said it would be fixed no matter what, I said that I had no control if my glitch would be fixed or not after I shared it. Didn't think this could be misunderstood, whoops.
2. I never explicitly agreed with this anywhere, but sure, I'll definitely agree with it! I don't see how this changes anything, though. Unless you can convince every single person who saw/saved the glitch in some way to sign a non-disclosure agreement, nothing you do will prevent it from being spread.

Also, if you were arguing against someone who said "It doesn't matter how many people know about the glitch, it's gonna get fixed" you definitely would have won, too bad that isn't the case.

Right, so you disagree with reducing the chance of this getting fixed. For what reason then?

What? Sure if you want to stretch what I said to that, I disagree with censoring the website with the equivalent of dropping a pebble in a river to try and stop the flow. This is the internet, nothing you post publicly is private anymore and my point (which has never changed by the way, just ignored apparently) is it's not your choice.

Imo it`s way too late now. Shouldn`t have made a public release to begin with. Derp.

You're ignoring what I wrote completley. Ignorance is a horrible thing.
I responded with a 'I don't agree' that the effect of having this thread open will get it fixed
What's SlotID 0?
I don't think that exists
In my case I want to mog feet of the lynx on my hunter. I have the lynx boots on a rogue, but do I have to have them on my hunter too? (I like to say Yes but it's a bug so logic isn't the best here)
As Allybeboba said you need to have learned the appearence that you want to use, in this case Feet of the Lynx, on a char on which said appearence it the main armor type, in this case a rogue, monk or druid.
can we delete so this doesnt get fixed plz
lol

When it was deleted around 18% had shown their grattitude, that is it alot, and probably way more than what people usually get.

Look @Mvq your reason for deleting the original thread was that people didn't give you enough likes and didn't comment with enough positive feedback.

Now you want this thread deleted because you're scared of a fix. Since when did your reasoning change?

Would it be OK for this to get fixed if you'd just recieved enough likes and comments?...

I'm not neglecting the work you've done, your attitude just seems fishy

While you may be right that you wouldn't give a homeless man more money after being ungrateful, you can't take back the money you've already given.

Except in this case you have that homeless man your entire checking account.

Ho! Ho!
So you admit not getting enough "likes" did play a factor in wanting it taken down.

Nothing wrong with sharing and caring. I shared how to get the Legion acheivement through a mechanic exploit and got very very few likes. He just wanted glory. And when he did not get enough he through a fit it seems.

That's what I wrote in the original Thread.

Sure. But next time I find something I obviously wont' share it anymore. That was my point.
