EU+US Top tink Series 2015: General Feedback

Dorigon

Alpha and Omega
I realize a lot of the community enjoys these polls, so this thread is aimed at getting feedback regarding a couple of things. I encourage anyone to give input, will consider all of it.

1) Public Polls vs Private Polls
This is a big issue, and one that I will be experimenting with in the next poll. Both types have their pros and cons. Public polls are good for keeping people honest about 0 or 1-vote accounts and it can be enjoyable to see who votes for whom. On the other hand, public polls can also be negative. People can feel obligated to vote for their guild mates or for the "big names", or may not vote at all. Looking for more feedback on this.

2) Finals Format
It is still a couple of weeks off, but I am thinking about the finals format. I saw that TI polls now allow up to 30 options, so I am considering doing this World Cup style. That is, the top 2 from each group will advance. In the finals, I will consider seeding all options from top to bottom depending on the percentage of their votes that come from colored names. We will call them electoral votes, a term you should know if you're American or familiar with the American voting system. (credit goes to Pizza for that term). Yes, I know plenty of vets and longtime players don't have colored names, but it is a fun and goofy way to seed them, rather than alphabetically like in the class polls.

Please give some feedback, on these or other issues.

I would say private because it allows people to vote for whoever they want, as opposed to their team members they feel obligated to vote for.

I say privet polls, since some of the arguments posten between US and EU are almost becoming racist

I also don't think EU should be counted in the prefix when (I'm assuming) you only play US. If the GG 19 players from EU are playing on US servers then they are still US toons

edit: do all colours count for the same amount? (the seeding thing)

I want to say yes, just for keeping it kinda simple. For example I think Livingforce has 19 colored out of 31 votes so far, so simply 19/31 and figure the %. If you have more ideas I'd like to hear.

edit: Had another idea. I will call it a "wild card" system, like in major league baseball, NFL, and NHL. Each of the class poll winners moves on to the finals, then have the next 10 highest vote getters put in too. In terms of total votes, not 1 per class.

1) If you decide to make the individual class polls private, I think the finals round should be public. Seems to me like a nice mix. I find it interesting to see who votes for whom, and, like you said, it will deter 1 post accounts.

2) World Cup format sounds cool. Just be wary of bribes and corruption charges. I also like the Electoral College idea.

we play eu and us

also, not GG19 - we were all here before that idk why everything thinks we've randomly appeared cos of that

i get what you mean though, the cause of a lot of arguements is we have seen people play on EU well but obviously the people from US havent seen these people play - so a US prefix would clarify shit so as to pick only players playing on US

Had another idea submitted by someone, seed based on total number of votes gotten and only use colored names for tie breakers.

If we go to private polls, may need to seed based on total number of votes anyway.

Not every EU player playing US plays it exclusively, not every EU player on US used GG19

Private is a good idea. However, it will still not prevent EU from blatantly voting for any EU average joe blow, just so they can beat out the US players. Now, we just won't be able to see how bias the party across the ocean are being in the future.

So, yes, I do believe private polls will reduce favoritism for most US and a small percentage of EU, but it won't fix the other issue.

Hope this information helps.

Are you trolling? How is anything I said "racist"? It's a fact that *most* not ALL EU, will simply vote EU, no matter HOW GOOD the person who they're voting for is, just so they win the vote. Keep the PC police outta here, please.

You voted for a US priest didn't you? Isn't it the exact same thing?

ok youre wrong, straight up

priest voting - out of all the eu people who voted - i count 20 give or take 1/2

8 people voted for EU priest

12 people voted for US priest

so your claim at us being bias is proven completely untrue, what the fuck are you on about

edit: actually read this, don't say that we're bias again when this proves we're not

These EU just don't get it.
