Staff of the One True Bramble King

What are the odds of getting any of those modifiers? Anybody has an idea?

I think my bud Dfac said it took him 39 tries to get the staff with just the socket. But again, randomness. Could get it on the first try, or may never get it in 1,000 tries.

Case in point. Gearing up a rogue for fun. Dreaded needing TBC dungeon drops for the 3 socket helm/chest/legs. The chest and legs dropped on the first run! The helm took 20+ runs. Just really good luck.

A wild guess for bramble with socket plus speed or leech...probably 1 in 3,000.

Yeah of course rng is rng, I'm just wondering what's the overall chance to get any upgrade at all (like, what's the chance for any item from Draenor to "upgrade").
If it isnt too low, I can definitely see myself start the grind. if the chances are astronomically low, meh, I'll just stick to the regular Staff I have right now. Ty for your answer!

Just extra 0.3 dps? Is it worth it to reroll for it? I am assuming the drop rate is rather low.

It's about:
  1. the cost of your time
  2. your happiness with maxing a character out or not
For #1, time is something you can't get back. Are you willing to spend your precious time grinding away at a low drop rate?

For #2, at least for me, I try to gear my characters within reason. Just a regular bramble staff makes me happy. The pinnacle of twinking though is maxing everything. More power to those willing to eek out every last gear advantage.

The often sad answer is "yes" on time spending. Don't remember who it was, but i remember a WW at the ass end of BFA who had epic sooth and epic gloves of some sort (I think it was) said he remade 800 times plus to get both... people do some nutty ass shit for .01% performance/clout.

Hes a warrior, the agility on the staff does nothing for him. Bramble is BiS MH for him not having a ilvl 49.

On another note took me a good 50 kills to get a +10 speed on my survival hunter. That was a fun couple weeks.

The links are obtained from 2 completely different sources. 2 people making the same mistake (unless they actually belong to the same person)? Notice both are fury warriors with main hand using Crusader Enchanted Bramble staff. Does anyone smell something?

I smell a troll

The top end damage is what makes it worth using as fury... sadly that is what matters more than main stat... the +weapon damage enchants for classes like enhancement shaman also adds a shit ton of damage to some abilities (which is basically the same thing)... it just scales stupidly. Why the i49s are so dumbass crazy... its not the little bit of more strength/agility you get... its that big ass top end number that does mega damage.

If it was true BiS and not BiS because "I don't have a 49"... sure... grind or die... but, I mean.... 49.............. 4............9er.

I'm all for the nerfs.
GF'd things may be cool but does create a competitive environment

GF'd is not really the current issue in SL at all... the gear is quite close regardless... yes there is a slight difference between somebody hitting you with an i34/bramble versus an i49... but really ONLY on a hunter... most other classes the damage is not that great anyway... or at least in line with heals. The weapons don't really matter... if you have two Destinies you are going to do just as much as somebody with i49s.

The classes are more the issue, not the gear... Holy/Disco Priest is still going to be twice as good (not just based on chart numbers but total utility) as the other healers even with the same gear if everything got nerfed... And hunter is three times as good (honestly easily arguable, no joke intended) with MM and Survival hunter than any other DPS.. they are just overpowered at the design level even without any weapons factored in.
