Hopefully this helps keep track of it all, let me know what I'm missing!
- If you are an agility or int class, move all your Mark of Honor to the toon you want to main. They will be used to buy https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=28363/deadly-ornate-topaz or https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=28123/potent-ornate-topaz
- If you want an allied race make sure you have a high level available so you can do the class quests. Rep req has been removed but you still need to complete the class quest to unlock. The Vulperian zone, for example, https://ptr.wowhead.com/voldun isn't available for level 10. Unsure but I'm guessing you need a zone appropriate character to unlock, so work on getting something to level 35 in this case, or 90+ on live.
- You can collect https://shadowlands.wowhead.com/item=33782/steady-talasite that's another good gem to have.
- You can farm mats for Wrath or BfA Engineering, or whichever profession you will want to learn.
- Stock pile current ENG helms as most will be GF'd (although not really BiS anymore). If made before prepatch they will retain their original stats/no level req.
- Stock pile parachute cloak for your agility toons, same changes as eng helms.
- Farm the Black Empire Gear https://www.wowhead.com/news=296283/new-black-empire-bind-on-account-catch-up-gear-in-patch-8-3. I expected this to be hotfixed but it's still not so worth looking into. BoA token "catch up" gear has had the req level removed, meaning we can use them on a 10. The ilvl is very high.
- Farm the Brewfest trinkets, some look decent for SL. Also they finally fixed the int ones, they proc on PTR.
What should I do on prepatch day?
- Determine what the trial cap is. Are you sub off and leveling? Check xpoff, someone will have more info.
- Use your Black Empire Gear at cap (whatever that ends up being).
- Go to Shatt and buy all the gear you can use https://www.wowhead.com/npc=18525/geras. There will be a portal available in the portal room for 10s.
- Learn Wrath and BfA Engineering (might be hotfixed).
- Unlock your artifact wep quest (do not put in relic gems yet!)
- Enchant your artifact wep (needs to be applied while the ilvl is low).
- If Legion Dungeon gear is still ilvl 44, run those until you have a full set.
- If not, run BC dungeons to get socket gear. Honestly, you can solo.
- Socket BC gear.
- Socket relic wep.
- Train your new Engineering/professions.
- Work to unlock Allied Races.
Should I sub now/later?
- If you want a DH you need to sub AFTER you get out of the zone. You have no way to lock your xp at 10 and will pass the vet level very quickly. That's really the only requirement around this. Make your DH, get out of zone, sub, lock your xp, unlock before you sub expires, etc.
- When you do sub, make sure you park your toon by the xp eliminator guy. Some people are "1" xp from 11 on PTR, just discovering a new area can ding you.
What is prepatch day?
It's really the start of SL for twinks; level squish happens, new zones unlock, etc. 50's just can't do the SL content yet.
