you need to be within 9 or 10 levels of the mob to be able to get loot, cant remember which it is tho

Interesting, I did go to spires of Arak and went to the Lost Veil Anzu and couldn't even hit the mobs there, so I ended up leaving. I might have to look into it more than.

all these rares that drop 44s were originally wod max level quest zones. city of shat won't phase for us until a higher level. i havent looked at them all but there's at least 1 more that we can't do, gorivax in frostfire ridge, who wont spawn unless a relevant quest is open, and won't drop loot for anyone who isnt on it. the mobs that stand where he spawns don't either, which is a tell. if you're very careful about jumping down from talador to the very edge of the pool you can stand there without phasing matron of sin out and have a highlev pull her over to you. today a guildie who never got a hit on her got her item in the mail when i had pulled her and some 3rd person swooped in to kill, but i have yet to test further on this possibility.

also i remember some talk back in legion about ways to bypass the loot level rules by having a party full of people like
example: 110, 101, 99, 89, 79, 69 etc all the way down
this was used in legion to get the BoE legion epics on a lvl 49, apparently it worked because there were armories of 49s with full legion boes on them
anyone remember exactly how to do it or if it's still possible at all?

Im pretty sure it only worked because they were BoEs tho and they actually had a scaling factor, these items are just ilvl 44 and do not scale but I could be completely talking out of my ass btw if so ignore me and continue on ur day

Anyone know much about the Bash'ir Landing area in Blade's Edge Mountains in Outland? I'm trying to figure out how this event spawns so I can do a little write up about the gems, and it spawned for me about half an hour ago but I have no idea what triggered it. Looking on wowhead i found this:
Assault at Bash'ir's Landing
Bash'ir's Landing is an Ethereal base located in Blade's Edge Mountains. Every 2 hours, the Sha'tari Skyguard launches an assault to Bash'ir's Landing, and they need your help to succeed.
So do the vendors spawn on a timer? Just unfamiliar with this zone/event. Thank you!

that npc should tell you when the next events starting, when it starts at bash'ir landing some friendly skyguard npcs will spawn near a crystal/console cant remember what it was exactly and you defend an engineer/technician from waves of mobs, around the 3rd? i think, the relevant vendor will spawn in, he's 2nd of 3 vendors that spawn as you progress

There is a quest that makes you talk to an NPC and is auto complete. After that the NPC tells you when the next assault is. It spawns every 2 hours and the npcs ride from Ogri'la to Bash'ir's Landing and then begin fighting off a bunch of mobs. The goal is to keep the Aether Tech alive and the vendors spawn in after each phase. The bosses are pretty hard and even as a 70 twink I couldn't solo it ever. Needed a high level every time.
Right now the npc is bugged and only say "0 minutes until event" so you're kinda screwed on that. But if the NPC says something like "go help them out!" or whatever and doesn't have a timer, that means the event is up.

Huh okay ill go check that NPC out, I just did the event and got to the last wave and quit because I didn't farm enough apexis shards prior to the event starting.

I gotcha thank you for the reply! I just did the event just didn't have enough shards to buy gems. I'll do it again and actually buy gems now.

Make sure you get enough crystals for the meta gem as well. If anything gets nerfed and we go back to gem socket gear, a 5% stun resist chance is pretty great

Oh snap I didn't even notice that! There gotta be a better way of farming the Apexis shards than just killing all the Bash'ir mobs nearby. I'll have to look into it more.

There are dailies in Ogri'la that give around 15 shards each.

anyone had any luck gettin cloth, leather or mail wrists from the WOD rares?
the rare that drops the mail wrist isnt scaled and cant loot him, leather guy wowhead says is bugged and not spawned in years but im campin him with no luck.
the cloth guy i havnt seen the assault up yet.

Once a day, I've read that they (the rare mobs) are like daily quests and reset once a day meaning you only get a chance at loot from them once each day.

I have not, like you have noticed it seems that all the wrist dropping rare mobs are nonexistent or out of reach for a level 19 or lower.

Well I was gonna do a write up on these BC gems from Blade's Edge Mountains, but the event hasn't respawned in over three hours. apparently the respawn timer is not 2 hours. Gonna have to get one of my other toons out here to get a spawn timer down.

I have noticed the respawn timers are extremely long. Perhaps he spawns he just is taking many hours so we dont see?
