What if the level squish is just a system similar to how professions work? (You level up that xpacs content and have separate levels for each one, rather than them all adding together).

Say the max level is 50, but each zone has a separate level where you start off at 1 ( scaled down) and then have to level to 10 in say the BC xpac areas. Once you do that you can experience it with your true level where the scaling is removed (making it trivial and mostly for transmog run stuff) but also more difficult the first time through.

Would make things easier for them going forward and potentially allow people to experience the old raids/content as a group on their mains utilizing scaling rather than specific toons.

Based on the fact that 1-120 will be 1-50 I’m gonna take a guess and say that current lvl 24 will squish to capped 10.
So I’m gonna lvl up a couple of toons to 24 and get them fully geared from gnomregan and other stuff unavailable to f2p just in case. Lvl 24 twinks being bis at xpac launch calling it RIGHT NOW.

Just saying I Been up to date on my 24 since the bracket died , you name it I have it for this toon except helm enchant

If you have xp gains into level 20 it might be a bit different I suppose, thankfully a gm set me back to 0/40k or whatever =)

Reason is, you can get squished into lower bracket and possibly be BiS with gear unavailable to pure f2p/vets.
Say that lvl 24 gets squished to 20 and you have gear from gnomeregan squished with you? Well, now you have a few BiS items for a few specs imo.
Its the first dungeon where Cloth helmet drops (what if blizz finally takes away ilvl 55 heads from engi and you get a Bis gfed head), Bis ring for FC , plus all the proc situational items + items with Use.
Anything else is irrelevant, higher brackets are not f2p and gearing for next xpac in hopes of getting gfed into another bracket is silly.
All the boe's can be farmed after squish, so getting BoP that is available only to 21lvl+ with hopes of getting squished to a f2p cap is the only realistically viable thing to do.

I literally typed that its only applicable to 21-24 level range and gave the items that can be BiS(FC ring, cloth helm, proc/use items just in case). You make it seem like a huge amount of work, when its literally 3-4 hours per char for 2-3 items.
Also, afaik 21-24 range have same quests available as lvl 20, so its literally 1 dungeon that you need to run at lvl 24 with xpoff a couple of times.

EDIT: well i did not explicitly typed its for 21-24 only, but its OBVIOUS that you want to get as close to current cap at 20 as possible, so with gnomeregan starting at 24 there is no reason to go above 24, maybe for a few quests at 25 with unique items but i didnt look into that.

Im confident that having a few characters at lvl 21-24 with BoP from that lvl range increases my chances of getting BiS items/gfed items for bracket over people who dont have those chars/dont do any of that.
But hey, if you think that doing more reduces my chances over people who do less - than you are obviously misreading what im typing.

But like I said, you do you. I love building toons, so I can't blame the ambition. But I think you need to be careful about stating this stuff as fact rather than you hedging your bets against VERY long odds.

Well i never stated that as a fact, and always used a form of WHAT IF when i typed anything. So i see where you coming from, but im more than sure you clearly missed what i meant + just read through quickly.

TO CLARIFY: just as i said in original post and in recent answer. best and most logical thing to do now is gear 21-24 just in case. anything beyond that would take either too much time or is clearly improbable. If you have allied races its literally like an hour per char. i never said that it would(as in 100% will) make gear BIS or gfed, but knowing that squish will happen and not making a few chars close to 20 bracket is not something that will help anyone get a better gear.

When somebody tells you that you CAN get into something do you assume it is 100% guaranteed thing to happen ? How can that be an example of talking facts ? I literally said you have a chance to get squished into lower bracket, as in "hey buddy, you can get into that league" means there is a chance, not a 100% fact that you will.

I did talk confidently about what you can do NOW that is likely to help you with your toon/gearing in future. im confident that doing that is worth it, i never said im confident that it will happen. And i believe you really missed my point by fucking miles.

yup. I maintain the position that vets not banking XP is an oversight.

Though it wouldnt really kill twinking. It just means Vets would never again be able to resub. Once the supply of consumables runs out, thats it. But otherwise, nothing really changes.
