Thanks for all the testing. That is a new high by quite a bit, well done. I will update post #2. I am not doubting your numbers, i am just wanting to make sure your on the 4 target dummies? Its the only thing i can't tell from your screenshot. One more question, from some of your comments it sounds like you are seeing rising dps during the 5 minutes? With the low haste build we seem to pop off at 800 or so and ramp down till it flattens out around 4 minutes or so
Yeah I'm hitting the 4 dummies (I don't think any critter got in the way, and there was no one else hitting them at the time)
I also get the initial spike of 800ish DPS, but the throughout damage isn't steady and the number changes when the proc happens and especially if the procs happens on top of each other.
From what I've noticed I get the following every 1-2 minute spans:
630-640 neither trinket has procced.
640-650 one trinket procs
650-660 both trinkets proc close to each other
660+ both trinkets proc at the same time and/or repeatedly
I've had some tests where it quickly drops down to 630 because neither trinket has procced for the first couple of minutes, then they start going and it steadily climbs upwards to the 650 range as the procs happen. Also had the reverse where the procs happen in the first minute and holds a high 680 before going down the same range. Then sometimes I get really lucky and I get a lot of procs throughout which ended up in the screenshots. During those two particular attempts the DPS held in the 700-710 range while both trinkets were active.
The trinket RNG probably means 5 minutes isn't enough to smooth out the highs and lows. I think people who've used the ooze trinket have seen the highs plenty of times when you get 5 oozes out at the same time, or when the thing doesn't proc at all.
I should note that the final displayed DPS might not be 100% accurate. I have some contradictory screenshots were I've ended at 200k damage done at the 5 minute mark but one of them has 649 DPS and another 657. If I recall correctly the 649 was when I had a proc drought at the start and it was climbing back up from 630, and the 657 started out strong; but either way at the end of the 5 minutes 200k damage was done. Course the difference might be within a single whirlwind at the trail end of the test.
So that might be a consideration that's needed, to divide the damage done number by 300 to get the 'true' DPS value over the 5 minutes.
