Pros and Cons of GY "Containment"

I didnt read alot of this post, but instead of overthinking so much, u shud improve ur gameplay, you type alot but you still backpaddle 40 yards in the gulch, and you are overall an awful player... Sorry for attacking u but you type alot on the forums but you are still playing like uve been in the bracket for a week.

You're kinda mean, yo... maybe one of the reasons people don't like GY camping so much is because the people who support it are always dicks?

The ONLY one with a relevant, albeit heated argument was Agonist, and I think even that is easily shot down.

If you're just here to offer your opinions regarding the play style of different people, I suggest you run along and play black ops, or whatever it is that trolls do nowadays.

I guess what the cool kids have said about me all these years is true... I am a bad player... and I complain about douchebags that GY camp.

I have always tried to follow the rules that we had back to the day in the 1st 19 twink guild I was in back in Vanilla.
If we're in a game where we dominated the other team, we limited our forward progress to the road below the alliance graveyard. That game the other team an opportunity to either a) sit in the GY and give up or b) buff up to try to come down and fight again or c) go ramp instead.

GY camping used to be frowned upon, but that went away a few years ago. Hell, I remember WOW forum threads accusing players or guilds of GY camping and the guilds would actually deny doing so to save face. That was too long ago, I know.. :)

Oh well. It happens and will continue to happen. I complain, but it won't help.

Again I say, GY camping sucks to have happen to you and it's, IMO, boring to administer to to others.

Hey I never claim to be a amazing player and I am telling it how I see it, I type alot on the forums as I work two jobs and dont get to play as often as I would like to, yet I have been a member of this forum for a long time and enjoy alot of its members thus I spend time on here while at work. As for the back-peddling, I don't think I have back-peddled for a long time but hey I do agree I really do need to work on my overall gameplay and thank you for being honest in that aspect.

Finally I want to ask something, How do you know how I play. I have maybe seen you in one game I have played in in the last month+ and in that one game I didnt seem much of you. So unless you are mistaking me for someone else I would appreciate if you did not accuse me of things I do not do.

dosnt sound like a very smart strat does it (why should you give the bad people a chance to run away and help their FC for example if they do have one) if they wipe in mid and they cant push out of their graveyard they are supposed to be at the graveyard, (aslong as the team who actually do have the stronger team decide to actually cap the flags the game should be over within a few minutes)

I admit i havent played much US lately, but i have seen you in a few games the past month and i do remember seeing you backpaddle and running around like a headless chicken, but hey maybe Iam wrong, and sorry if im bad at giving out constructive feedback on your gameplay.

That's the problem. Teams don't always cap flags. I have been in 15-19 games, albeit a while back, where the other team would cap one and them spend the other 18 minutes holding the flag while GY camping.

I don't mind the game where I am on a team being GY Camped as long as it's an 8 minute game.

and isnt the whole discussion really about Gy containment, I also think graveyard (camping) is wrong most of the times but gy containment is the way of the game, you push back n forth, if your team sucks you only get pushed back and cant do anything, u might aswell leave or wait til they win the game fast and not ress.

here is a good game i did back in 5.2 on US, vs pretty much the best team they could of got, we never gave up (i guess you could say we were 4 man queuing) but we still faced (good players on good classes) while we didnt have as strong team with Vianco and Nicozy basiclly solo dpsing.


(Skype is abit out of sync compared to the game sorry for that)

Well, now that rum is nerfed and most classes don't have any useful party or self buffs at 19 now, that point is not relevant.

As an aside, and totally laughable, I came back after 7 months and for a few days, I was still popping rumsey right and left. After a few days, I noticed that it wasn't increasing my HP... I was like, WTF... and them I realized the stam buff wasn't there anymore. So much for keeping up with what's happening. hehe
 
I do agree when games are even the match ups are pretty fun and tend to come down to the wire, giving a great satisfaction win or loss but those moments are far between and tends to be one sided 90% of the games that happen, which I think is the main problem most people have with containment.

Just the other night Skill Ratio had a 5 man queuing and so did Underground, the game was won by Skill Ratio but it was a solid and fun game.

I do reget going horde sometimes on US because most of the fun pugs was on the alliance side (but couldnt care less because i do not spend that much time on US to get to do alot of pugs), but it required you to queue with 3-5 man, Skill Ratio do usually roll with the best classes, but whenever they do meet good players they lose or struggle real hard, most overrated guild easy.

go open the door and smash your head in it till you have bleeding from your ears. that's the result of using logic around here, my way will save you a little time. :p

This is where you contradict yourself. You claim the players are bad and will end up in the graveyard because they're bad and they belong in the graveyard, but you indicate you "contain" them so they can't help their team.

If they're bad, what gives you any indication that they would help their team at all, regardless of where they are on the field? Isn't that the very definition of a bad player, one who takes up a spot on the team and does nothing well enough to help progress the game for their team? What difference is it wiping them in mid or near their flag carrier vs doing so in the graveyard? At least letting them get out go to get set up provides them with some more time to learn to react, to learn some better awareness and possibly improve their game a bit over time. How can a bad player improve if they spawn and are immediately unloaded on and killed by 5-6 people?
