Yea, this is fucking wild.

I'm woefully stupid about higher end content... are there any single source trash mob drops from, say, BC dungeons we could check on?

I'd presume that it still only drops from a single (trash) NPC, it's just the AoE-looting that makes it seem otherwise.

When I saw the item upgrade of a trash pull, I was like "wooooaahhh, has this happened yet?" I didn't know that Blizz Armory had listed items as (chance to be epic). I went to Wowhead and they have an older version listed there ((edit - I went to wow.Classicwowhead by accident)). Anyway, this dropped of trash in Stratholme in the Archivist Galford hallway.

I feel like it's some kind of lazy code they applied to all single boss drop items. I was researching farmable 2handed axes and excited to see some options were able to become epic. But even though the adventure guide says it could be upgraded the axes could no longer be obtained because the mobs were removed. I'll edit with which axe i was looking at when I get home.

Edit: er I mean single source drops

I doubt it. Especially since there are some items that seem to not drop at all, yet have the "chance to be epic" label. I'm guessing its looking at the actual item database rather than what might have actually dropped.
 
Decided to take a little break from farming Slicer blade and got this in 15 mins..

It sucks man, but the way I look at it the upgrades are so minimal, and if you're good enough of a player it really doesnt matter. I've rolled 5 level 20's so far, 1 of them got 1 epic upgrade, and 3 of them got 0, and my rogue got 2 useful epics and 1 waste. Rng is a fucking nightmare.
 
Is this the best scaling robe? Or have I been farming the wrong one?

For level 20? I would recommend this chest piece especially for priest. However that chest is also amazing too for max int. The vers on the one I linked is drool worthy tho

Xakxak? Nah. Its bis on ally but it doesnt hold up to fallen appre.
 
Out of all the damn quests I did, I got 2 epic upgrades.. OF THE SAME STATS!!! Ugh, I'm so sad LOL! I don't even need it.. I have the fang set! T_T
