Just a quick update on this I highly doubt this will work for 19's at the release of 4.3 look at here Transmogrification is coming - MMO-Champion BlueTracker look at 2nd to last post etc.

Question: Do you HAVE to be able to equip the item to transform your own item? Or do you just need to have it in your inven? Because there's world bosses that drop level 60-70 items, that would look way insane on 19s rofl.

Im pretty sure that every weapon other than ranged (non thrown or wand though) require the same weapon type, as Hurrx said. Blizz quite clearly stated that only ranged weapons will be the exception to this rule.

but i think thrown weapons can't turn into bows, guns or xbows and the other way around. It would be weird having sludge cake thrower and turning it into a bow it shoots fast as hell.
Also, in regards to 2h weapons they may only allow axes to turn into other axes and etc. Then people may turn their 2h weapons to Pole arms and when Warriors have titan's grip it will be weird lol.
