Nirise's Shadowlands 20 Resto Shaman Guide

Thanks a ton for this. I had snagged up a bunch of Legion socketed greens & on an off-thought decided to check XPOff... lo and behold!

This looks pretty solid! My 2 cents:
  • Haste looks low, I think 15% in BG is a min, to get your cast down to 1.3. After that, look at vers. Mast on everything ya
  • https://www.wowhead.com/spell=204264/swelling-waves is pretty nice if you are being focused
  • Vul isn't horrible as a race. The bag is a nice save if kicked. You can also use with a Lava Burst for a push. I do agree Orc strong, Tauren as well. 8 stamina is a nice chunk. Gob seems pretty crap, Ghost Wolf so fast with even just a little speed, you don't need the jump.
  • +Mana is back to broken again and giving 180 to Chest. Arguably better than 4 stats, toss up.
Would you use that sleep chest in BG over other options?

Swelling Waves feels like a mini-crit i.e. unpredictable in the sense that we don't know if we're going to need the heal 3 seconds later, so losing out on the other great PvP talents feels like extra insurance that a resto shaman can't reliably use.

For how much does the Bag of Tricks heal? And don't discount rocket jump -- it's one of the best racials in the game for creating or closing distance faster than even a good ghost wolf can produce, plus it can save us from falls. I've won arenas and battleground confrontations with well-timed and well-placed rocket jumps.

When did +mana to chest come back? That's definitely worthwhile if it gives 180 mana.

I switch to the Green Whelp Armor for random BGs when I see at least a couple of threatening melee that would typically serve as secondary/kite targets. For arenas and more competitive PvP I rarely use the Green Whelp Armor because other than hunters, we're in a caster meta and the extra survivability from an ilvl 28 BoE serves better.

628 non-crit, outside BG
Idk they fixed the mana to chest a few patchs ago and I just tested last night and it's back again. I think it's benefiting from the passive 400% mana healing specs get.
Unleash Shield's knockback is really small, felt a little clunky but I haven't done much of it.

That's a really nice heal. I'll add that to the list.
I tested the two top mana chest enchants on a 29, and they both gave +210 mana, which I assume is what a 20 will see inside a BG. That's significant, and I'll add those to the list as well.
Unleash Shield's knockback is very horizontal, so even small contours in terrain can shorten (or lengthen) knockback distance. I routinely blast people off Lumber Mill and the center of EotS. Beyond that, it serves as a nice second interrupt for when your teammates just need that little bit of extra time to finish off an opponent.
