In the upcoming minor patch vengeance will no longer be triggered from taking damage.

The first World of Warcraft: Cataclysm patch of the year is in development and now available for testing on the Public Test Realms. This minor patch includes several updates that we were unable to apply via hotfixes, including the recently announced cross-realm raids, assorted class balance fixes, and more. If you'd like to help us test out this patch and provide feedback, you can start by copying your character over to a test realm. Once you've had a chance to try things out, be sure to visit our Public Test Realm forum to discuss the patch.

World of Warcraft Patch 4.3.2

Notes for all World of Warcraft patches can be found here.

Classes: General
  • Vengeance is no longer triggered by receiving damage from other players.

Druids
  • The Tier 13 Balance Druid 4-piece bonus now also increases the damage of Starsurge by 10%, in addition to its current effect.

Hunters
  • Aspect of the Hawk now grants roughly 35% more attack power.
  • Deterrence now also reduces damage taken by 30% while active.
  • Black Arrow now ticks every 2 seconds for 20 seconds, as opposed to every 3 seconds for 15 seconds. The total damage dealt by the ability is unchanged.
  • Lock and Load no longer benefits Arcane Shot, nor is it consumed by Arcane Shot.

Mages
  • Fireball damage has been reduced by roughly 6%.
  • Pyroblast damage has been reduced by roughly 6%.

Paladins
  • Holy Radiance now costs 40% of base mana, up from 35%.

Priests
  • Mass Dispel should again prefer dispelling targets that have magic effects that can be dispelled.

Dungeons & Raids
  • You can now form same-faction raids with Real ID friends, allowing you to enter Raid Finder in groups larger than 5, run older normal or heroic raids, or participate in Battlegrounds. You will not yet be able to run normal or heroic Dragon Soul with cross-realm raids of Real ID friends.
  • Several typo fixes and clarified descriptions have been added to the Dungeon Journal entries for Dragon Soul.
  • Players can no longer win multiple copies of the same item on a single Raid Finder boss kill. For example, a player who chooses Need on two set piece tokens or two weapons and wins the first, will not be eligible for the second on that particular boss.

I have bolded relevant patch notes

Ive been testing this on PTR and at 85 there's not a noticable difference, I can't say for sure at 20's since theres no one to test it on

lmao hunter buff

They did it for end game raiding Hunters not for lower level twink brackets. End game raiding Hunters are (even after 4.3) still a good 3-5K DPS behind as many as 4 classes right now in DS. 35% boost to Hawk is nothing for lower levels and is the only DPS increase. The Deterence dmg reduction while active only effects DoTs applied prior to Deterence. LnL no longer effecting AS means nothing for PvP at all. BA having faster ticks and a longer duration but NO CHANGE in dmg means pretty much nothing in PvP as well as each tick will be considerably less damage.

That's funny. They nerf one of the only weapons against hunters and then buff hunters. Everyone ******* about paladins, but there are so many of them because if you know how to play one, you can almost always either kill or survive an attack from a hunter.

This bracket will become even more imbalanced from this patch so, hang on tight. Bumpy ride to 5.0

What would that be? How many DoTs do you roll on Hunters with 100% uptime where a 30% reduction to 1-2 DoT ticks is going to be game changing? Also, how many Hunters have your DoTs killed while Deterrence is up? And can anyone even do basic math? a 35% increase to such a low value of RaP in the 20-24 Bracket = roughly 1-3 DPS increase (if that). OMGWTFPWNT, those Hunters are surely gonna rape everyone with that extra 3 DPS, man what will happen to the 20-24 bracket when everyone is dedderz.

Prot paladins were fine before and will still be fine. this doesnt change anything except that prot warrior is now only useful for FCing and not one shotting low hp clothies

The issue is less about hunters and more about the fact that Blizz ignore anything that isn't endgame, despite their promises to the contrary. All they have to do is improve scaling. That's it. They will never do that though because they don't care.

Yeah.. just gonna make my int setup even better. I don't need Vengeance, I'll just juke you all day.

I agree 100%, Blizz has always been horrible at balancing non-max level for the current xpac. I did however do a little research to help a few posters truly understand how little a 35% increase to Hawk means at lower levels (the only DPS increase in 4.3.2).

LvL 24 = 72 RaP with Aspect of the Hawk currently.

4.3.2 LvL 24 = ~97 RaP "buffed" Aspect of the Hawk

14.2 RaP = ~1 DPS for ranged attacks currently

25 RaP "buff" = ~1.8 DPS increase in 4.3.2

As you can see it's not remotely game changing in the 20-24 Bracket nor will it be in any other bracket and the only other change that effects PvP really is the 30% less dmg DoTs will tick for (1-2 ticks) [that were applied prior to Deterrence] while Deterrence is active.

nooo another hunter buff lol. this is a random question, but on next expansion, are we getting moved to the 15-19 bracket?
