MW monk gear

Kk was wondering how much 1 intellect was worth Ans sanguine is only 6 nothing higher ?

Dunno how much 1 int is worth for mw. Hard to judge with healers. Damage classes seem to be around 1 primary = 2-3 verse (at least, at 19 - I imagine 20 will be similar.). The choice for sanguine is more about how much stam you want to give up for more int. For a healer, I'd probably skip on sanguine cloak. Perhaps get int from another slot like belt or gloves or goggles.

Since MW does melee for damage, I feel as though sacrificing 1 int depends on where you're sacrificing it.

For example, although MH/OH offers more int because of the offhand enchant etc, I still feel as though 2H is more beneficial (losing about 3 int or so) because the 3 int only gives a few points of extra damage on abilities, whereas using a 2H increases auto attack damage by 50-60 per hit.

But if it's on a normal piece of armor, always 1 int > 1 vers, I don't know exact amounts, but if Cloak of Rot did scale to level 20 (which I don't think it does), then I would consider using that over a 6/4/3/2 cloak.

However, it's a good thing to add that MW is actually fairly squishy, so although max int might seem like a good idea, unless you stick to about 1.9k-2k HP unbuffed, you'll get destroyed in most situations given the current meta.

Especially since:

Something new I found out to consider regarding MW weapons:

1Hander + Off-hand = around 90 Damage per Normal Weapon hit (White Damage Numbers)
2Hander Staff = 120 Damage per Normal Weapon hit
In comes a scaled version of https://www.wowhead.com/item=2072/dwarven-magestaff, which has 4.2 DPS compared to ALL other INT staves that only have 2.4. Made my Normal Weapon hit numbers get up to 130s.

I guess it comes down to 2-5 Damage off of all your skills by sacrificing some INT, or miss out on up to 40 extra damage per Normal Weapon hit.

Yeah MW is a bit interesting there. Jagged Star or the staff that has melee damage (can't remember the name...) are more important than they are for most classes. Then again, it also depends on whether or not you want to focus on healing or damage. I'd honestly have a "healing" weapon set (1h/offhand with coastal surge or spellpower or power torrent and int offhand) and then a mid/solo/duel/offense set (jagged star or staff w/ elemental force). Switch between them depending on how in the fight you are and how much healing you need to pump out.

Yeah, cloak of rot doesn't scale or drop anymore - so its basically an expensive 29 option.

Especially since:

I actually picked up 2 with good stats on them from Gnomer runs, so after class today I'll be sure to test it out personally. Very good find.

I have yet to get a MH/OH because of my unbelievably awful luck with BG crates, however have you (or anyone else) been able to test Coastal Surge? I threw it on a Staff of the Friar, and from what I've done so far, I haven't even seen it proc once in BGs. I know it procs under certain conditions, such as in combat or the player needs to have HP missing, so I'm not sure what's up with that.

We should get some more Gnomeregan runs going.

What level req do those staves have? Wonder if they are an option for 19? If its got a <20 req can you SS it for me?

Yeah I've seen coastal surge proc. Its pretty similar to a rejuv. It won't proc sitting around dal healing someone at full HP. But is pretty solid in pvp.

The lowest I've seen them scale to is 20, and I've only seem them drop from gnomer. I'm not too sure if they scale any further down than that though.

And most definitely, I won't be back on until later though

Sounds good! And I think my Dwarven Magestaff dropped with 5/5 Crit/Vers, have to double check, but if it did, I believe those are the best secondaries I could ask for on a MW Monk.

So based on your chest enchant, I can see that you aren't a f2p.

Here's my armory: https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/character/argent-dawn/Dcms

Besides shoulders, I feel as though my character is "BiS". BiS is whatever feels comfortable for you. Below, I have typed out the random enchantments that I prefer to use. I stat prioritize 1.9k-2k HP > Int > Vers > Crit > Haste. Some people may say that haste > crit, but really, do what ever works best for you. However, just remember that no matter what: 1.9k-2k HP > Int > Vers > x > x

Things I would change about your character:

Fang Gloves. 5 pc fang set gives the most intellect, and is definitely worth it over any other option in this entire bracket. Before you equip fang gloves, make sure you put glove reinforcements on it using a character that is level 60 or higher. (+11 stam in BGs)

As we have discussed earlier on in this thread, we have determined that 2H is better for MW than 1H/OH, for the pure fact that it offers way more of a damage increase than the few additional int you get from the OH enchant. I use Novice's Staff, which is available to you in the Peak of Serenity, from the Staff Vendor. You should keep Ele Force as you have now. However, I have yet to do testing on my own, but the Dwarven Magestaff, scaled to level 20, is also a very solid option for MW (In my opinion: preferably Quickblade random enchantment), but if you are unable to obtain, Novice's Staff is your go to.

BoA Vers healing neck is better than the satchel neck, use Mark of the Satyr as it procs off of any damage you deal, and for MW it is much better than any of the stat increase neck enchants.

For your rings, Advisor's is great, however for a replacement for Silverlaine, any BG crate ring with Vers, and if you do not have those yet (as I know that luck can be shitty), I would use the Deep Fathom Ring from last boss of WC. Use versatility ring enchants.

For helm, make sure you level Engi to 300 (well, it's only 245 req) for green lens. I use the Quickblade green lens, that leans more towards versatility.

For shoulders, use BoA, in my opinion the Preened Ironfeather Shoulders are best, and use the Cranewing Inscription.

Stam to cloak enchant is okay, but in BGs, make sure you have 1.9k-2k HP unbuffed, anything after that you should prioritize int/vers > stam. Since you are using the boot enchant that does not stack with the speed % cloak enchant, whenever you reach the desired amount of HP, swap to the cloak enchant for int (2 outside of bgs, scales to 3 inside).

And lastly, your bracers aren't an awful choice, but I'd recommend either A) proper random enchantment BG crate bracers or B) properly scaled mindthrust bracers (ilvl 23).

Everything else is fine, and if you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

thnx and any advice on how to get gloves of the fang i can solo WC. did 5 solo runs and many more in dungeon finder but never saw them drop

https://www.wowhead.com/item=2072/dwarven-magestaff is not the only one with higher DPS. I found another counter-part to this staff:

Wow! Nice find. It looks like MW Monks have a lot of weapon options. Do the 1Handers make much of a difference for druids? I mean I guess Cat & Bear form can benefit from weapon swings... Still though; not nearly as big of a part of the rotation as with a Monk.

Druids typically don't do melee damage. The real "advantage" of jagged mace is very slight - mostly auto attacking people as you run past or doing some slight damage while FCing in bear form. Not worth the loss of 4 int. I'm guessing pallies/shamans don't want to lose the significant armor from shields. And that it isn't worth it for priests either.

But 2h staves for MW monks is interesting. I'll have to keep an eye out for some on the AH.
[doublepost=1536977959,1536976476][/doublepost]Some higher ilvl options that may or may not scale down enough...
