alliance got shitstomped pretty much every day so it was mainly just myself - back in the gnome + human days - and airles who were actually geared. enigmadag (if i'm recalling that name correctly) was also solid - MG nelf that played with airles. bend also had a nelf rogue that he played occasionally.

other than that it was mainly undergeared jajas + ap players - most of the rogue talent was confined to horde (which can be said for every class), alliance mainly just had some of the arguably good hunters. yourself included at one point iirc

Consumables have been second nature to me for a long time now. Not which consumable, ALL CONSUMABLES. They are an extension to my spell book. Many of the recipes and schematics are extremely rare, and many of the materials aren't easy to obtain. Everyone goes up in arms about gliders and speed pots, what about the rest of the list:

Flame Deflectors
Strong Anti-Venom
Discombobulator Ray
Shadow Protection Potion
Holy Protection Potion
Thistle Tea
Runecloth Bandages
Drums

Gliders and speed pots may be the consumable you see the most, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. More so, a lot work goes into preparing for a BG, and that I do. Noone has an unlimited supply of anything. I spend time gathering ALL materials. Drums and gliders are most expensive, my realm is barren on swiftthistle, every exotic material is personally farmed for. I plan my actions ahead of time, and I understand what the limitations of my consumables are. You say I crutch, no, I just really dislike to lose.

I can't get any of those besides Anti-Venom and Thistle Tea
 
This list makes me laugh a bit, as a handful on it are pretty well known for being bad and annoying.
