[Mists Of Pandaria] Curley's Rogue Guide

Edit your post you put Venerable Dal'Rend's Sacred Charge as an OH dude

Hey, I was wondering why no one uses a dagger in the OH for more poison procs? I know ambush and sinister strike both are skill dmg+ a normal weapon swing, but as far as I can tell from several attempts and review of the combat log it is always accompanied by a MH white weapon hit. Is that incorrect?

Thanks!

Poisons are normalized at weapon speeds over 1.4 I believe Meaning a dagger or faster weapon isnt more procs.

Hey, actually just joined the site, been twinking for a while but decided to make a rogue this time. Your guide helped me! And I actually was just in a Battleground with you and KO, I play Ally and was top of the boards :p Thanks for the guide again!

Fanatìc @ Chromaggus - Game - World of Warcraft Curley what do you think of this crit set up for daggers. I think it looks pretty sweet. probably low on expertise for OH damage and top end damage that SF could provide. Would you ever run 2 daggers as sub and would ambush technically be better this this set up?

Daggers are also faster for poison procs

That would acctually provide less poison procs because poison procs are normalized at 1.4 speed. Also you would gimp yourself of some hit rating meaning less whit hits will come into play plus your ambushes and normal white damage from your daggers will suffer due to their low top end.

don't daggers hit harder than swords for ambushes though? I thought the only reason swords were better was the white hit after the ambush

But the white hit is pitiful following the ambush.

Correct me if I'm wrong, too. Changing weapons after ambush, i think, costs time.

Yea, it resets the swing timer.

My set-up works for my play style. SF's are all around better then a dagger setup, however having the high crit makes up for the lack of damage the daggers provide with the utility of being able to backstab when the person is facing the other way (running). I could change my spec to not include Waylay for maximum ambush/backstab damage if I'm working with another type of snare on the EFC but in pugs that's just not the case.

Basically I wanted to run something not commonly played, and from the results I'm seeing the heavy burst in my initial ambush and the white/backstab crits thereafter is enough to make it as viable as any other setup.

If your playstyle invloves not focus kicking and focus gouging then by all means cause backstab is 60 energy i highly doubt u will be able to interrupt heals with gouge being 45 energy and kick 15. Plus your not a BE.

My playstyle is burst on an EFC to finish. and backstab is not my primary attack and its purely situational. I have plenty of time to focus kick/gouge, and reason being on the UD I'm rolling alliance so the race change was just for me to compare the two. Stop being so close-minded it's not BiS or nothing. I've actually been in games, with you, and watched you get feared while I was able to clean up.

I don't see your point...

There was no point... It was explaining the difference and viability between the setup and the choice of race. SF rogues have their BiS niche however, there is validity in the crit dagger setup if played properly.

Could be a good idea, if I had hit cap with BoA Helm+ Shoulders + ellos maybe, to replace BoA chest with Tunic of westfall or something? or maybe even swap out shoulders for the crit 1s
