Same, took me a couple hours. I am on a pvp server and had some ganking issues but, if memory serves, as long as you're alive when the mushroom explodes you get the rep. So time your rez appropriately.
Just a reminder that today is the Glowcap Festival... so if you've got access to Outland, consider paying a visit to Sporeggar (in western Zangarmarsh) and help the sporelings with their annual mushroom ceremony.
Have a little fun, forage for fungi, heal The Great Fshoo... and if you never got around to maxxing your Sporeggar reputation, you can pretty quickly remedy that as well!
Greetings from the Thousand Boat Bash! Just in case you thought Blizzard™ might be competent-enough to use their ubiquitous quest-scaling on a silly holiday so everyone could enjoy it... let me assure you that they are not.
There's no fun for F2Ps here... so save yourself the trip (unless you really like looking at "big boats").
Today's the day for Luminous Luminaries! I'll spare you a prologned rant about how ridiculous it was trying to deduce the Where/What/How of this damn nonsense, but at least my "suffering" means that you won't have to.
Where
(...I knew getting that trinket on Easter would come in handy, eventually!)
What
GG Engineering has discovered luminescent creatures in the depths of Vashj'ir. They need your help to research the creatures before they disappear into the deep sea once again!
It starts-out annoying, ends-up boring, and probably isn't worth doing.
How
Click one of the nearby diving-helmets to get started... it gives you water-breathing, 3x swim-speed, and a giant light-bulb on your head.
Now you have to look for "bio-luminescent" sea-creatures... they're scattered all around the zone, but you'll probably want to start with the kelp-forest due south. They're a ghostly-blue, and you can turn-off your "light" to make them a little easier to spot.
You'll know you've found one when you can mouse-over it and get the "interaction hand" icon... but you'll have to swim right on top of it to successfully right-click. The problem is that it's impossible to accurately judge your distance with these things, and you'll also be aggroing other creatures with your attempt. Fortunately, you can survive a few hits... and can "out-swim" everything pretty easily.
The click will give you a 10-minute "buff" that represents the type of creature now "following" you. I found three different "types", and decided to collect all three before swimming back to the submarine.
If your "light" is on, the submarine will begin "scanning" you (and your glowing friends) once you get close enough. If you have an open inventory-slot, this will slowly create Luminescent Research Notes.
While the scan is proceeding, make sure that you're looking towards the West... because every three minutes a Whale Shark will swim-by and "chomp" whatever is in front of the submarine. If your "light" is on, you die. If your "light" is off, it's harmless.
This cycle then repeats 2-3 times until your "fish buffs" expire, and you stop getting "notes". Doing three-at-a-time gave me about 150 notes per "hunt".
Doing this Tavern Crawl whatever on my 50 alts to get port to Pandaria lol. It looks like you can only be ported to the next tavern every 10 minutes, oh gosh...
