What do you guys think of this...

Scientists accidentally turned off consciousness within the brain, this means the person wouldn't know if they're alive or dead. Nor will they know their surroundings or even their own existence during that time of unconsciousness.

However would we actually be become non-existent? We could decompose into the ground and then in lets say a couple of hundred million years we come back as a spec of bacteria. Nobody knows the true happenings after death, not even religion. That's just a speculation on a specified belief "I'm not being a tool over religion, I respect peoples religious views and properties."

So many questions, so little answers.

Here's a question:
Can you comprehend what it would be like to be unmade, and become nothingness? That's something I have trouble picturing... which makes it hard to believe that one simply ceases to exist in any form at all.

I ponder that myself, sadly it's normally when I'm actually in bed trying to get some form of sleep...It's a very curious thought to think about though. Everything has a meaning and everything has a destiny, we're all made up of atoms which are entirely made up of energy. Energy as we know it cannot be destroyed, only transformed or manipulated...so what's there to say we'll come back as something else through residual energy?

I've heard "people" say death is like going to sleep if that's what you're getting at, but even when you sleep you dream. So in that instance some part of you does remain aware to a degree.

I've had similar thoughts, but in regards to the "energy cannot be created or destroyed," I think one has to consider what energy is and what forms it can take. Just for example, there is that idea where we all eventually become one with the energies of the universe (I think it's a version of Nirvana). In that particular regard, the individual's consciousness ceases, and in exchange, they become part of something greater.
