Item changes in 6.0

SPQR

Legend
Blizzard is too lazy to remove things. They'll just remove it from your Character Panel and from current tier items, but that's probably it.

Most likely it will get swapped to another stat.

My current theory is that Spirit + Hit will turn into Haste

And Expertise will turn into a new WoD stat.

Couple things could happen

A. Be removed on the majority of gear with a few odds and ends being skipped over like resistance
B. It could be changed too another stat, alittle less likely i think. Seeing as they didnt do it for resistance
C. Only rework BoA gear <- Most likely imo
D. Do absolutely nothing

Also, i've seen a blue post about the 2h jp mace. The devs said they left it on there for that "iconic 60 raid nostalgia" or something along those lines. Since MC was all about stacking fire resistance.

Other than that we wont really know what's going to happen until beta drops. It's fun to speculate though.

Translation: "We forgot about it, but instead of admiting mistakes, since we don't do that, we came up with a plausible yet stupid reason for what we did. Thanks for being gullible".

But yeah, speculating is fun :D

I believe they will swap the stats like Bop said.
They have a ton of technology that makes them able to do so.

At this point it appears that the "primary stats changing with spec" feature will probably only affect new 90+ gear (Source). I'd be curious to see what they do with heirlooms, if anything.

Also, for the moment it looks like Hit and Expertise on items will convert to Crit or Haste, with Mastery also possible at higher levels (Source). Following that logic, I could see Dodge/Parry being converted to Armor.

As far as I know, there hasn't been any word yet on what their plans are for Spirit on current gear.

Supposably it's not longer going to be a primary stat.

Warlords of Draenor's gear system and spirit as a secondary stat

As for gear changing depending on the spec that will indeed be lvl 90+ gear.

What were talking about is them retroactively going back and removing/changing stats on lowbie gear, like they have done in the past with armor/spell pen/ spell hit, resistances etc.

Right, I'm aware of what they plan to do with Spirit in general (secondary stat for healers found only on "non-armor" pieces); it was actually laid out in that first link I posted. The question is what they will end up doing with current low-level armor pieces that do have Spirit on them, which could have some significant implications for gear choices in our bracket depending which approach they choose to take.

Obviously anything with Hit/Exp/Parry/Dodge/Spirit is worth taking a look at in regards to potential future BiS pieces. Especially from a healer's perspective, things like Rune of Perfection, Drakewing Bands, Grand Staff of Jordan could look pretty appealing after the changes. Haste- and Crit-stackers out there will probably have a lot more options than they do currently, and with less sacrifice of stats.

Because the time spent to fix a low level issue could be spent adding a new item to WoWs cash shop.

They're are all in for the money, that's a fact.
So I just don't see a reason for them not to do it if its that simple.
I personally might spent more money on the Blizzard store if I'm satisfied with how I'm treated.

The moment Blizzard added a cash shop, on top of their monthly subscription was the moment i realized where their priorities are. Sucks but hey here we are. I predict by the end of WoD we will see actual gear, being sold. Not the best, but pre raid req gear. Expansion after that, will be full on crunch time. Aimed at your wallet.

All the more reason to f2p. :D
