US Is 20-29 still a thing?

Well then you're not really interested in changing or improving anything, are you?

Edit: And also, I rather strongly suspect that you -did- read it--every word--and you just don't have a good answer for it. Because your motives aren't what you claim they are.
I could be missing something, but I'm pretty sure you're waaaaaaay off in assuming that the vast majority (or even the majority) of players is f2p. I rarely come across a f2p toon. All of the Elwynn sitters and people in BGs have enchants, and all of the twinks we've ever arena'd against have enchants as well. Making f2p toons would put us at a distinct disadvantage for no reason.

It truly just is a difference in perspective and values. People don't want to play competitively in 20s because their focus is on slaying noob levelers - that's all they wanna do. As soon as we joined the bracket, people stopped playing arenas because they knew they would have actual competition to play against. They could no longer smash level 24 assassination rogues with no BOAs in 100% of arenas. I get it, 20 arenas aren't the same test of skill that 120 arenas are, and taking them too seriously is kind of silly, but the teams that consistently win are still better than the teams that don't.

Bottom line is, egos are fragile (mine no exception), and competitive game play closes the gap between a player's imagined skill and their true skill. People aren't interested in that. People are interested in feeling good about themselves and their abilities.

for the record. only until this recent patch did 20s become corrupt as the "slaying leveler" bracket.
before it was always 20s vs 29 twinks. the pendulum completely swung in the opposite direction. we were the ones at a disadvantage and now were the ones with it.
we strived to get wargames in the 20 community because we just got annoyed of 29 shitters interfering

you joined right before classic was released. no one is playing retail anymore
i havent logged retail since classic was released a month ago.

you CANT have competition in 20s arena lol. not with the broken classes that are available. especially the comp you guys play

@Apnea I'm not sure if anyone answered your question as 10 pages in a few days typically just means 9.5 pages of offtopic posts or trolling that's impossible to read through.

20s are very active but very boring. Competitiveness is gone as everyone truly wanting those close intense bgs seems to have dissapeared and now we're stuck with a bunch of "free time twinks" that just log to pass some free time and will afk out of a 1-1 by with 2 minutes to go. Basically nobody seems to care anymore.

29s are dead because they can't roflstomp on 20s anymore and the 1% of 29s that wanted to play close bgs couldn't keep the bracket alive. The rest rerolled 20s.

Classic will likely split the community even more when bgs become a thing. Retail 20s will likely become the boring "free time" twinking scene while classic hopefully becomes the competitive twinking scene.

U rlly think comp is the reason those arenas weren’t competitive? Lul u swapped comps like 8 times and mirrored us

Y’all are funny. Can y’all that are hating on retail just answer his question without your negative bia’s about how much you hate retail and how if you want competition you should play classic lol. We all know the ppl on the form that can’t you be subjective and literally see the pros of cons of both games.

Let’s be honest, most the ppl bashing retail pvp right now was just on retail last night farming black rock for trinkets lol. Y’all are comical .

Let’s set the record straight retail pvp at 29s is still alive .

Bring the hate and one sided opinions because I love how y’all have such conservative tendencies of thinking about WoW.
[doublepost=1569177942,1569177596][/doublepost]Also by the way! Y’all are funny if you think classic WoW is way more complex than retail wow. Like for real? Most of you that don’t like retail and are resulting to classic are the b/c list players that are upset because you can’t top the 120s in pvp. I love y’all, but damn let ppl enjoy both games lol. If you don’t like classic or retail just stick to your game and don’t knock us for playing what we play lol. Y’all know Classic WoW is called classic for a really shit is “Ass”.

Thank you for actually answering his question and giving your opinion :)

Also let’s be honest classic is slowly decreasing in population.

Really good response, thanks for making it. You're right that my understanding of the bracket is from a long time ago, and I could be way off in the percentages. On the other hand, it could also be that the reason you see so many Vets in arenas could be just as I said above-- F2Ps don't want to queue into that.

I do disagree that you would be at a disadvantage by rolling an F2P if your goal is to set up private games. No one's suggesting that you stop playing the Vet. But as far as how to fix the situation of actual Vet bracket playing, I think you have hit a mark of truth; that there are a lot of people who enjoyed facerolling F2Ps until they all left, and who aren't interested in gumptioning up to face real competition. Unfortunately I don't have any suggestions on how to get those Vets to want to be competitive... people want what they want. But, if there are F2Ps who want to be competitive, and who would be willing to set up side games, it's at least something to look in to on the side.

Thanks again for a well thought-out response though.

Lol you're one of the twinks that I was talking about...

Hang in there for what? Your gliders and speed pots to try to compensate for your skill?
you're a huntard, you don't know what you're talking about

@Apnea none of the garbage on these 10 pages matter. come play classic w/ <PTL> on fairbanks

I have to admit, I'm a bit confused. I know I've been gone for four years, but I was a senior moderator before that. Now I'm just trying to figure out the lay of the land here, because you know it's a new website now with new owners and that's going to mean new standards. Anything I might have known from the past doesn't necessarily apply here anymore. But having said that, and wanting to understand a little better what type of forum / website we have here now, I did read the forum rules, and, having done so, I have to admit I'm quite confused as to how some of these posts, and posters, exist here.

I'm going to go under the assumption that this is one of those situations where the rules were created and enforced for a while, but people largely ignore them now. That's about the only scenario I can imagine where this sort of sh*t-posting would not be actionable. And I'm not in a million years gonna put my moderator hat back on no matter how much they beg me, but... in the interest of just understanding what I've walked back into, can someone explain to me, how is this person not banned already?

Really, I'm just asking for my own education.

Blackberryy, Dbsprite and Sponsor are the only mods who have been on in like 3 days. Blackberryy likes to drop in once every 6 weeks or so and arbitrarily enforce rules, ban Light for a few days, do some really bad trolling and then he dips out again. Sponsor and Dbsprite come and go to. I was actually surprised Druiddroid hadnt been on since tuesday, he seems pretty active lately.

The websites entire admin team doesn't play the game anymore and only pop on every couple weeks to promote their respective boutique private servers. They aren't engaged with nor do they really care to be a part of the community. They're detached, aloof and when they do show up, theyre every bit as trolly as the rest of us. It rubs off on the mod team who seem to be well meaning but I imagine moderating us idiots gets exhausting.

So its real Lost Boys shit in here and yea, sometimes it gets a little out of hand. I imagine some sleepy mod will swoop in and lock this thread in a couple hours though.
I like to let people banter and troll. Yes we do have rules. All our mods are a little bit different in how we enforce things since we are people. In my case I go easy on it and eat some popcorn. If someone goes way overboard then I take action.

And yes in my eyes it would be exhausting if we had to constantly moderate people that tiptoe around the rules. A lot of our activity and "new" posts are topics much ado about nothing.

We still have all the stickied guides around for anyone that needs info. I haven't seen a lot of people jumping down newbie's throats. Our community has been (especially relatively!) nice and helpful to those returning for vanilla. For me that's an important thing and has been cool to see.

In a thread like this which is about retail, we should expect some of the old xpoff posters to argue with each other.

@Kincaide we had Conq take over the site for a couple hours and ban 69,420 people. You missed it mate

How are queue times anymore? I hop on retail to do my weekly +10 and maybe heroic EP, and right back to leveling my vanilla rogue. How are the vet queue times, fellas?
