ilvl 155 gear?

I was going to say "nah the focus is probably on classic for the new pvp changes and hardcore incoming on the 24th" I just checked out the patch notes for retail and there's a TON of balance changes, so I doubt they focused on many bugs this patch.

Gear opportunities like this come and go so frequently. The main issue is the inconsistency of Blizzard's hotfixes. If their nerfing was stalwartly consistent, I'd never think to farm those items, just let the streamers/Youtubers get their views from insane crits and 1shots and move on with our lives.

BFA had ilvl 180s, literally just had to kill a Rare NPC and it dropped unscaled loot. As simple as that. People who abused it had their items manually removed by GMs and some even had bans handed to them.

SL had exploited Artifacts, the ilvl 44 WOD Rares, and the epic love necklaces. The ilvl 44s got constantly nerfed, which frustratingly forced everyone to re-gear BiS every week at the beginning of SL. High ilvl Artifacts remained untouched and forgotten for the majority of the expansion. Epic Love Necklaces were untouched still to this day (albeit them being underpowered now compared to new pieces).

DF exploitation has become so ridiculous, you need to be part of secret societies to be in the know. Most active exploits since the launch of DF have not been hotfixed, and most likely won't be in the near future as it involves scaling. They'd need to detangle their whole spaghetti code responsible for scaling to fix them.

The FOMO is huge though because of how inconsistent Blizz's hotfixing is. What if this is here to stay forever, and its the new BiS, but they only fix the way of obtaining the items? Although it was not an exploit, think of Pre-Cata vs Post-Cata twinks in comparison. If you created a twink after the Shattering, you were already at a huge disadvantage from missing out of the OP/disproportionally high ilvl quest gear (Wingblade, Inferno Robes, Jutebraid Gloves, etc).

These items are really fun short term, but they have such a long lasting negative impact on the health of twink brackets. Severely bad publicity on WoW Forums, further perpetuating twink hatred (works against us for our fight to merge brackets like on Classic WOTLK and have active BGs), massive burnout/quitting after Blizz "nerfs items I farmed hundreds of instances for", or going back to dull statistics after having an OP twink.

Idk, call me biased but I'm truly fed up of needing to exploit to gear my twink on Retail. And ofc there's a new exploit almost every month that surfaces. I've said this multiple times before, twinking on Retail has become who can exploit the best. One of these days I'll catch a ban and won't even be surprised honestly. The amount of exploits I had to do to stay ahead of the curve over the past decade and a half on my 10 is just surreal.

Part of me wants to say shame on all of you who exploited to get that ridiculously OP 155 gear, but at the same time, the FOMO short-sightedness always takes the best of us.

Tl;Dr I'm getting too old for this shit, and I'm sad to see no one cares about the health/bettering of the twink reputation.

It’s not fixed. I don’t think this will be something that will get fixed on a Tuesday maintenance this late in the release

I do think this will be a random hotfix however. The way I see it there might be a few options:
1) they slap a lv 50 requirement on already obtained pieces (most likely imo)

2) they rescale the drops ilvl to the character level they were obtained at (10, 11, 20, 29 etc)

3) they change the behavior of party sync to make these unobtainable (and perhaps GFing the already obtained items in the process) - FOMO option

God I hope 1 or 2 happens. Just like sponsor I’m too old and busy to seriously farm this.

I agree all this shit is really bad for the game, but I don't blame the players who get it. It's 100% on blizz for screwing up so often and the inconsistent or extremely delayed fixes. Especially in pvp, as soon as one person gets some OP gear then everyone else has to get it or they might as well just quit the game.

The delayed fixes often occurring several weeks or months after a new exploit is found seem almost worse than not fixing it at all. They let it go on so long that all the players think its just going to stick around, and then everyone invests time in getting the gear and more people are pissed off when they finally fix it.

I almost think they should just get rid of the separate xpoff queues for BGS. Don't like getting your ass kicked by a twink? No problem, make your own twink.

Having to re-gear your twink every month is terrible...I think most of these issues would be solved if blizz just did shit right the first time.

I really don't see why some think this gear thing is the worst thing for the bracket. I would argue untuned hunters have been ruining BG games in this bracket for a much longer time. Even before this gear came out hunters were one shotting geared players from stealth after the talent changes. This gear has made me dust off my 20s, which have been dormant for many months.

Anyway, side note for those gearing. I see all these different techniques, some of them too complicated (especially if using 3 accounts). Here's what I'm doing:

1) 1 booster (I'm using a level 70) in current timeline
2) my toon I'm gearing in current timeline
3) any other toon in SL timeline (if this one is F2p/vet, need to start party on a subbed (#1 or #2) and pass leader to this one)

#3 turns on party sync before entering dungeon
After inside dungeon, #3 turns off party sync (70 is not gimped)
Keep clearing until a boss is killed that drops loot for the toon you want to gear. Then turn on party sync and loot. Turn party sync off after looting.

There are dungeons where I never turn party sync back on if no loot drops for the gear toon, but you only need to turn it back on if you plan to loot something on #2 toon above (and this can be done after the boss is dead)

Not sure if this was already covered, but I haven't seen it so here it is

Yeah, thats why I am just not bothering this round. I put in so much effort in the past to stay bis and now its just gotten a bit over the top for me.
d I'm sad to see no one cares about the health/bettering of the twink reputation
There are ppl out there that re trying, I try pretty hard to convince the average wow player that not all twinks are this way but its like swimming against the current lol.

to be honest, imo, the epic upgrades in WOD is a blizz screw up too caused by adding M+ to older content. 59 @ 10, 87 @ 20, 112 @ 29., really is not right.

what amazes be is seeing a like 58 in a WOD run getting epic upgrades in the 200's

Oddly enough, warforged WoD drops almost make things better. Without them, classes that can make use of the few epic dungeon drops would have a (probably) significant advantage since they beat blues by about 30 ilvls. Also dungeon quests possibly upgrading to epic would make every twink a lottery. Whether that would make PvP better or worse, I can not tell, no PvP for me.

I'm running PvE 30s with raid gear, which seems to be quite the sweet spot for soloing dungeons (or non-scaling areas) where it's not impossible but can be tough depending on the situation, making it quite enjoyable. 155 gear would trivialize it which would ultimately make me stop playing.

I mean I still "exploit". I chose the raid gear specifically to stack SL gems to infinity :p

Slowly but surely, y'all are gonna fall prey to the whispers. Roleplay comes upon us ;)

But seriously, your post really encapsulates what ruins twinking : twinks. On one hand you can be satisfied by WoD gear -which is quite good in itself- but then you're at a massive disadvantage. Before the ilvl 155 you could say yourself "ilvl 61 is decent enough" and get blasted by ilvl 87 toons (let alone 29s in ilvl 112). This ilvl 155 gear is morally questionnable at best which doesn't help our case.
In an ideal world everyone would play a 20 with ilvl 61 gear -without BC socketed gear, farming gems is a pain-, easy farm, no major advantage to take and everyone is on th same power level (or at least as much as class balance allows it). The issue is that we can get that gear, why wouldn't we (I personnaly don't care for that gear, it's a general "we")

Perhaps we should try to get a community effort going and try to get an agreement on which ilvl we should "lock" ourselves to, considering the odds of blue dungeon gear becoming irrelevant are quite low which would mean no more constant re-gearing (or SL gems, god I hate these) but humans never agree and twinks even less so.

So I guess I'm gonna stick to RP and questing with grays/crafted gear.

So this explains why I've seen a sudden spike in ilvl 155s in BGs. Half of each team atm is ilvl 155s, another half is ilvl61-87s, and there's always one poor soul who's only got random greys and greens from quests.

On a different note, is this exploit only available to people who have a subbed account and are therefore capable of making parties, or can this be done with just 2-3 pure f2p accounts? I'm very new to both f2p and wow and this is shaking up a lot of what I've learned.

And it's over :p Pretty quick turnaround this time.
