Just saw this in the patch notes:

Level 111-120 gems can no longer be placed into the sockets of items from previous expansions.

Speedrunners do this, do they not? Like haste-stacking warriors? Apparently its not going to work next patch.

Anyone know if it's grandfathered? I assume 111 twinks cant BFA gem antorus gear then? No one can? Did anyone see this on the PTR? This is the first I saw about it.

First I've seen of it. That could be problematic for 111s. Gems are one of the main reasons to go 111 instead of 110. If 111s have to choose between antorus gear and BfA gems, then they may be in trouble.

Wow this is crazy, I wish I had checked the ptr and patch notes earlier for these funds, sadly my 110 is new so I will miss out on gemming these better gems in my future sockets

I don't think they are better until 111, just maybe cheaper to buy off the AH, so you should be good at 110.

edit- were they a way around ilvl restrictions already? Honestly don't know about that.

Is it possible that there are new gems coming in BFA? I just checked on my JC and none of the BFA gems require 111.

I noticed this a while ago...except BFA gems aren't working in my BFA gear. Thought it was just a bug.

Oooooh nm. Anniversary gear must be counted as 'vanilla' gear for BFA gems. Here's a normal BFA socket working correctly.

Discodeeps' armory now shows the same haste as his PTR pic up there and he has 2 gems that should be not working in the pic... his INT is 30 less on the armory tho. Hard to say until someone logs in the PTR and checks.

It will get fixed, what people should test however is their gemmed gear from ulduar
