How to gear your 70 for PVP

i would just like to say about the DK Fcing gear, there needs to be alot less resil maybe, 150 less swap that into stam, i had that problem i was rolling with 850 resil and 17k life and was getting oneshot by 4 people, im now on 22k unbuffed life and 650 resil, ive only lost 8% damage reduction and gained 5k life much easier to stay alive and much easier for my group to keep me up.
 
I guess all holy paladins should use Icewalker on boots and stamina / dodge trinkets like yourself.



And as Vapriest competently pointed out, two rogues and a mage can take out any healer. If you want to survive longer, get more resilience, not stamina.

I had them to test what hp i can get to and logged out with them and so i guess blizzard saved them to me on the armory.



And the resil is completely pointless to get after u havea bout 38-40% resil the 4% extra or lil bit more wont help u but if u get about 2-5k hp and drop the 4% resil or lil bit more u can survive longer.
 
Both trinkets you suggest for human arms warrior are both GFed. Should i use sonic booster?
 
As Equilibrium pointed out, the lower tier of Battlemaster trinkets are still available. As noted in the original post, people without access to Berserker's Call can resort to the JC version.
 
I am an idiot. I believe this is the first time somebody has made a suggestion to my BiS lists that was actually an improvement. The irony is that I used this trinket on my Death Knight while gearing up (for lack of better). Thanks!

I was looking at the enhance chardev... and had a couple questions... Why only 50 spell pen and not 72? Also isn't the hyjal ring 2nd bis over guardians? Also berzerking>mongoose... Also 630 resil is a little too much ;/

@Ccecil: The OP states that the spell pen enchant on cloak is bugged and doesn't show up under the stats. Hence the actual value is 87 rather than 52.

Before I begin, very nice guide. I've used it to help gear both my DK and plan to gear my mage.



Anyway, I wanted to check my logic on a few things regarding my DK with others.



1. Some people swear by Dual Wielding and at 85, I can see the reason why (Mastery, AoK trink, HB-NS-FS rotation) but at 70 it seems like the rotation/burst is similar for DW/2H Frost DKs. I've found that when using a 2H my RoFC procs tend to take a bit longer, but I also always have more runic power and can play a bit more offensively, as I will usually have enough runic power to Death Pact or LB - Death Coil in bad situations. When Dual Wielding, I start out w/ a cap of 100 runic power instead of 130. I also generate a bit less due to not having MotFW talent. I'm having some trouble choosing which is better, as I can see DW's burst being better in certain situations.



TL;DR: Do you prefer DW or 2H as a Frost DK?



2. My DK is Human, and I therefore have space for 2 trinkets. I made this toon recently however so I don't have access to any of the better (60-120) stat Battlemaster's trinkets. Currently I'm using the Sonic Booster + Gnomish Lightning Generator. Sonic Booster is definitely a favorite of mine, even w/ Stamina being less valuable compared to resilience, it's still worth something, and the proc is great. The second slot I can either use my JC crafted Shadowsong Panther (similar to Beserker's Call) or the GLG. The problem with using the Panther is that It doesn't really line up with my burst. This is due to me having the Synapse Springs. After 10s of PoF, I can pop the trinket, but at that point it's usually more beneficial for me to hit someone w/ a 1-2k lightning charge rather than get a 320 ap buff especially if they're close to dead and or I'm out of runes. The only real drawback from GLG is the fact that maybe 1/10 times itll hit you as well.



TL;DR: Gnomish Lightning Generator [81 crit, 1-2k dmg [60s CD]] vs. Figurine Shadowsong Panther [80 ap, 320 ap on use [15s duration, 90s CD]]?



Note: As far as trinkets go, I'm not against the Blackened Naaru Silver from Sunwell, I just haven't had that, Apolyon, Felfury or the BP Grips drop yet.



Beyond those two questions, there isn't much else that pops to mind. I will share a few of my experiences with other though.



When it comes to 70 twinking as a DK, you're definitely going to want two or three different sets of gear. One will be an arena set, stacked with resilience in almost every gem slot. We have enough burst as it is, we really don't need much more through gemming, we're much better off getting our resilience above 500 so that we aren't one shot by rogues and mages in arena. Your second set on gear should be a set with full strength gems. Use this in random bg's and whenever you're in a RBG where you're a EFC killer. The amount of damage that Frost DK's can put out is insane, you can easily down an EFC if they're caught off guard in even the slightest regard. Last but not least, get a set of gear that has a lot of stamina and resilience in it. Use this when you're speced blood and running flags. In this regard, resilience will always outserve you compared to Stamina. You simply need enough stamina to live through an initial burst from the enemies trying to take you down. Beyond that, you're either going to be healing yourself or have someone healing you, and resilience will allow this to happen. If you can hit 500 resilience you'll have ~32% damage reduction base. Add to that your dmg reduction from Blood Presence, Bladed Barrier, IBF, AMS, etc and you become damn hard to kill.
 
i disagree with the pvp hunter MM talents, your strongest ability is your CC and then burst followed by more CC and the talent Piercing shots gimps that alot.

If you dont want piercing shots breaking Scatter/ice cube, dont use chimera/steady/aimed on whatever you are planning to trap, Not to mention how awesome the bleed is Vs rogues.



And as already said; What.



Edit; Only things worth changing in the spec are situational, Ie; Switch glyph of kill shot with arcane shot, more pressure off the bat, things tend to drop like bricks sub-20% in battlegrounds, 1-2 points moved from 'sic em! to Rapid killing, keep momentum up in battlegrounds, between kills.
 
because scatter trap into aimed->chimera+silencing-> readniess -> scatter trap again into another aimed shot will get broken by piercing shots, if u knew how to full CC a target u might realise how disruptive it is, plus vs rogues its ridiculously easy to win anyway so i dont have any need for a shitty bleed.



also being able to pop a chimera then scatter trap will give your chimera time to come up again before the the scatter trap is broken, thus giving you the burst combo of aimed to chimera at the end of the trap + the extra 6k you may have hit before when u chimeraed originally.



idk about you but hunters survivability is very poor in this bracket , you need a lot of time to set things up and position yourself correctly, you often need to stay at max distance and keep chimeraing to even stay alive. scatter trapping is to vital and you should be doing it every 30 seconds, since im using chimera every 7 seconds to keep on the pressure/ self heal , i dont want piercing shots to be breaking my traps

Yes, hunters lack survivability, no 15% Stamina from the Survival tree, No masters call, No Deterrence, and very few hunters even know what RoS is.



And jesus, that sounds like one of the worst ways to kill sombody, i really hope you are talking about arena, even then, Scatter, trap, aimed, chimera, silence, readiness, wait. what? 95% of the time, anything like that wouldn't work, either due to Pillar-humping, the rogue gouging your face off, the mage in your melee range getting ready to global you, or resil-stacked immortal healer that cannot be killed, even if you are freecasting.

And since when has chimera had a 7 Second cd? It's 10, 9 with glyph.



In short; if don't like piercing shots breaking your traps, with your very 'special' playstyle, don't spec into it.
 
i dont like it and im not speced into it because its AWFUL and ruins the one good thing you have (chain CC) @ 70, sorry that you're garbage and have not learnt to chain CC like a boss, ill wait till your on my level though
