How to gear your 70 for PVP

Noob 70 twinker here with a few questions about the BIS list.

(Holydin) Why Lamellar instead of Ornamented 4-piece set, and Holy Shock glyph over WoG glyph?

(Ret/Arms) Why not 2t6 belt/shoes + t6.5 pieces for gem slots (helm/gloves)?

(Mage/Lock/Spriest) Why not Golden Staff of the Sin'dorei + 81sp over MH+OH?

(Agil classes) If you're going all out agil, Necklace of the Deep's 2 gem slots (and 21 agil) is an option.

for mage lock spriest if they were gonna get a staff, it wld b gms, grand magisters.

can you please make a chardev for frost DK? unholy is useless in pve

Use the same gear as in the Unholy Chardev until I get it up. If you're looking for a 1H-Frost Chardev, I'm unlikely to make one, since the playstyle relies heavily on Mastery. Unholy is not useless in PVP (I assume that is what you meant), in BG's it's rather weak, but Unholy DK / Shaman is a strong counter to Mage / Priest teams.

The Lamellar set sports better overall stats, and while the Ornamented 4-piece bonus may look decent (10% more healing to Holy Shock), it is arguably only a sidegrade over the cooldown reduction to Judgement, which resulst in a boost to mana regen. The glyph choice is based on the premise that WoG is likely to overheal in most cases because of Last Word, and the fact that Holy Shock crits grant Infusion of Light.

As for T6.5 offpieces for Ret / Arms, the stats on those pieces are generally not of much use (a large portion of the budget is wasted on haste), and the total stats yielded by the items, even when optimally gemmed, are not ideal when compared to the PVP alternatives. The 2-piece bonuses on both sets are also close to worthless.

As for the staff question, it comes down to more than item level and gem slots. Calculate which combo gives the best stat allocation, and you'll see the reasoning behind my choices. I wouldn't recommend Necklace of the Deep for PVP. I know some Rogues revel in doing BG's with full PVE gear, but the Chardevs in the thread are not targeted at those players.

@Wobbrocker: Your point about gemming expertise is a valid one, and as I mention in the OP, focus in the Chardev is not on the gems, but rather the items and their enchants (and the hit / haste caps these convey for the given class and spec). I would personally still prefer to be expertise soft capped, and I would never consider removing Shard of Contempt, but your point about gemming is well taken. I will edit that into the OP.

I've updated the OP with all remaining specs, and it is for all intents and purposes complete. Still looking for feedback on the Chardevs I'm uncertain about, primarily the Feral gear set. I may add a Chardev for 1H Frost DK's in the future, but the playstyle is highly reliant on mastery and a specific level 85 trinket, and thus falls behind 2H spec at 70.

Corrections have been made to DK, Mage and Shaman Chardevs. Suggestions for the Feral list are welcome.

I have plans of adding flag-carrier Chardevs for some of the tank classes, so stay tuned for some high resilience Chardevs in the near future.

Edit: Blood DK flag carrier added. More to come.

Frost Death Knight - Notes:

Mix around strength and resilience gems to your liking. A second weapon with Swordshattering is recommended.

Why not gem 10 resil / 10 str? It would seem a frost DK should have as large a damage output as they can obtain... despite the fact that they are already a frost DK :p

Also what are your thoughts on a DW frost DK at 70?

If you actually read the part you quoted, you would have noticed I write "Mix around strength and resilience gems to your liking". Some people prefer the ability to one-shot (and be one-shotted) by gemming full damage, while others prefer having a more comfortable level of resilience. This is why I specifically state that the distribution of damage and resilience gems is left up to the individual person - those listed in the Chardev are just what I suggest, and my experience with DKs at 70 heavily suggests getting at the very least 35-40% resilience.

I've tried dual wield with 2xBrutal Weapons, Glaive MH + Brutal OH and Dual Glaives, and I must say I prefer 2H frost. Having a lot of runic power at your disposal makes for a more free playstyle, and the Howling Blast / Frost Strike spec which is popular at 85 relies largely on having tons of Mastery and Apparatus of Khaz'goroth. Seeing as neither are available at 70, I wouldn't suggest going DW over two-hand, but despite what I've written earlier in the thread, I may add a Chardev for dual-wield DKs in the future.

Where do u get the belt, legs, and feet for the blood DK?

The belt is from Bloodboil and the boots are from Akama, both bosses in Black Temple. To obtain the legs you must kill Brutallus and trade in the Felfury Legplates (plate DPS legs) he drops along with a Sunmote on the Isle of Quel'Danas. If you're ever in doubt about an items origin, you can look it up on wowhead.com.

Dual wield Frost DK Chardev has been added - more flag carrier Chardevs are in the making!

Reformatted the OP to make individual classes easier to spot. I have plans to improve the aesthetics of the post further, but for now it's fairly easy to find your class on the list. Here's hoping the new forum has sick formatting features!

Hmm the holy paladin with 15k hp is a nono if 2 rogues and a mage on u are dead fast.

I guess all holy paladins should use Icewalker on boots and stamina / dodge trinkets like yourself.

And as Vapriest competently pointed out, two rogues and a mage can take out any healer. If you want to survive longer, get more resilience, not stamina.
