Made the decision for me ? :p

Good one :)

I won't lie, I had some fun in the early levels - it was refreshing, something new

The combat system in GW2 is amazing, especially in PVP, but there are other things I dont enjoy

My main reasons why I can't get into GW2:
- Daily events are just huge zergs most of the time.... there's no skill/strategy involved. Just stand around, autoattack the objectives and get free exp. More so the fact they are repeatable and are a very efficient way to abuse free levels (I went 30-40 in 1 day just by abusing daily event chains)
- You unlock your core skills by around Lv30~, and the system encourages you to pick a set of skills you like and build towards that. From lv30-80 you are spamming the same skills
- Hearts are the same thing over and over, nothing really special about them... I'd say they are more repetitive than questing in WoW
- Lack of a true Tank/Healer/DPS system.... I love tanking/healing in WoW, in fact playing tank/healer in WoW dungeons/raids is one of my favourite things (besides BGs)... and even playing a pure DPS class, being able to just turret the boss because a tank is keeping him in place.... in GW2 everyone has to kite/dance/move or you die.. even against random mobs, 3 hits and you're dead
- The game becomes more expensive to play as you get higher level. Waypoint travel costs go up, repair costs go up... and without mounts, you can become very broke trying to get across the world later on in the game, and the rewards don't scale accordingly to reimburse you for that

I will say Personal Story is pretty well done, but the fact you have to go back to normal PVE just to get your levels up to progress in Personal Story annoys me

If I come back to GW2 it will only be because I need my PVP fix... but as for playing the PVE, i can't do it anymore...

I felt this exact same way, as if I had 'mastered' my weapon skills on Mesmer, which is why I switched over to an Elementalist as my PvE main. Then I hopped back on my Mesm for some fun and realized I really only learned one style of play - I was playing staff - scept/pist and then when I made the small change from staff to greatsword my entire playstyle had to change accordingly. It made me realize that the weapon/utility skills are very nuanced and are synergies to one another in really interesting ways!

- Hearts are the same thing over and over, nothing really special about them... I'd say they are more repetitive than questing in WoW

Semi-agreed. The thing that keeps them fresh is that you can usually choose which task to perform within the heart. I once finished a heart simply by throwing snowballs at people, instead of going a more conventional route because it was... fun. No one's forcing you to do undesirable hearts!

It sure makes it obvious who understands the game mechanics and who doesn't. Have you done a dungeon yet, out of curiosity?

- The game becomes more expensive to play as you get higher level. Waypoint travel costs go up, repair costs go up... and without mounts, you can become very broke trying to get across the world later on in the game, and the rewards don't scale accordingly to reimburse you for that

This is one I have to disagree with, flat out. You start to get huge rewards for completing hearts/events at higher levels and receive items that sell for much more. Besides, you always have access to a free portal to any city.

I will say Personal Story is pretty well done, but the fact you have to go back to normal PVE just to get your levels up to progress in Personal Story annoys me

I hear you there. I'm just about at the end of my Order's storyline... it feels like a single player RPG; it's so grand/epic. Totally worth any levels I had to make up in the meantime. But going along with that, it is sometimes silly how a quest will end in a cliffhanger "Get to Sally now!!!!" and then you have to level up while supposedly Sally is being kidnapped.

Good one :)

It suits you well =)

Events do get harder, but yes they are zergy; however, dungeons are not. They require the PvE skill needed more so than WoW.
- You unlock your core skills by around Lv30~, and the system encourages you to pick a set of skills you like and build towards that. From lv30-80 you are spamming the same skills
I have multiple weapons and I also change different skills depending on what I want to do. Different skills are suited for different activities.
- Hearts are the same thing over and over, nothing really special about them... I'd say they are more repetitive than questing in WoW
Fair point, but past 70 the hearts go away and it becomes more dynamic events and whatnot.
Some people like that, some people hate it. =/

I don't know, I currently get 1.5 Silver per an event plus a whole lot of salvageable or crafting materials. Money is a little sparse, though.

You bring up some fair points, but I believe there are some work arounds and at the end of the day its all about preference.

I honestly could talk about GW2's core concepts forever. They're so interesting and new. Not to say there aren't faults, because of course there are.. just saying their take on everything is so unique and I am constantly impressed with certain facets.

I played a little bit of MoP earlier, wanted to try out the pandaren starting zone... frankly, it's embarrassing how many of these core concepts Blizz ripped from GW2.

For PvE I love the open world exploring and hearts and just roaming to level and the my story is great. And the world events are hella fun almost like an unstructured raid!

however the dungeons also feel completely unstructured in a negative way. Personally I prefer the holy trinity and gear progression and stat weighting and rotations and shit. I dont like the fast passed-ness of the dungeons and all the movment.

I play mainly for the leveling experience and exploration and the PVP. The pvp is fucking unrivaled by any game.

However even with the things I don't like, keep in mind Gw2 is making HUGE bounds for the world of MMO's and when you take such huge leaps there will be some tweaking necessary : ) It still is an amazing game that I will be playing a ton of but it does have the potential to be more : )

Finally got it all downloaded. When trying to login on Mac, I got a problem:

What accountname should I use to login? My Mialo.6923 isn't working and it won't let me type in "@" for an emailadres. It simply won't work. Even nog with an alt code. It just makes a black rectangle.

Edit: Found a way to type the @.

Although, now it says there is no serial code attached to my account -_-

Problems solved: My name changed to Mialo.4305

lmao. Insects, you create your character with certain traits and that effects how your storyline plays out, its pretty cool and much more involved with the player unlike wow. dynamic events are random events that pop up and give pretty good exp and also karma points.

Personal story
Personal story is a bit like a "singleplayer" experience that follows the lore of your origins as a hero that eventually will lead you all the way to "beating" the GW2 'Lich King/Deathwing' equivalent or whatever. It's probably the most immersive part of GW2, lorewise anyway, and it'll really introduce you to the different races, factions, nations, a bit of history with the GW1 storyline too and the whole GW universe. It is the closest you get to the WoW questing system - as you progress through Personal Story, you will also get to choose from level-appropriate loot.

When you create your character, it'll ask you a few questions about your "past" / "background" / "beliefs" - these will determine the path of your personal story as you "develop" as a hero. The stories are different for every race,

Dynamic events
Dynamic events are random impromptu 'quests' that can pop up in areas on the map - they usually have some sort of lore-related task to the area (eg. The centaurs are attacking the farmers, HELP THE FARMERS!!!!). Sometimes they depend on what's happening in the overall map area (e.g. if players are killing a lot of bandits, it might trigger a bandit attack on a nearby town).

They are very obviously marked on the map, and players are encouraged to participate. They reward a generous amount exp and currency. They are repeatable and are very frequent. Anyone can participate in them - most of the time you see one pop up, loads of random players will zerg out of nowhere to join in the killing/objective. Then in 10-15 minutes the same dynamic event might be happening again and rinse and repeat.
