Why do alot of people run the GS off-hand when the shadowfang is supposedly bis?

Having a dagger equipped, increases the chance of applying poisons on a/many(blade flurry) target/s. That's pretty much the reason.

My question is, whats the actual scale of GS ???

As lenny said. GS is much faster and gives insane eleforce procs with slice and dice on and blade flurry active. Oh and the increase poison chance since u stab faster

Just wanted to jump I here, a lot of people (including me) use dagger OH as the increase in ambush damage, poison application, at faster auto attacks. There is a thread showing the math breakdown of this. The only argument people have is ToV vs Wsg dagger vs screwdriver. I believe the common consensus is that bis OH is between wsg dagger and screwdriver, we are not sure which one is bis yet as we are waiting for a math breakdown of 1 agi vs 1 wep speed, in the meantime I am using Screwdriver.

Tl;dr OH dagger is considered better than Sfang OH by a lot of people, the only problem is we are not sure which dagger is bis between wsg dagger and screwdriver.

a) faster weapons don't increase EF procrate
b) dagger in OH doesn't increase ambush damage. It has to be in MH

Isn't there just 10 ppm? Also that PPM is affected by haste if I'm not misstaken..

@OP Fast OH gets your back to your MH quicker. You don't get the passives that improve OH until way later. Hence why it's not very good at 20.

Agree with this. If you wanted more ambush dmg you would use a dagger like ToV in main hand.

At 20 having a slow OH it's a waste in DPS. As Hash said above, passives to actually make slow OH viable you get only way later when you get higher levels.

Indeed, using crippling was a poor choice of words, but the point still stands that it is counter intuitive

I wouldn't go as far to say you are "crippling" yourself with a shadowfang off hand versus a goblin screwdriver. It's a small gain in dps, I would prefer to use shadowfang for transmog

I wouldn't necessarily say they are crippling themselves, both have their advantages

2x Shadowfang is better for quick burst damage, because the white hit does a good amount of damage once you ambush
SF + Screwdriver would be better after the initial ambush, because it would be better DPS from the extra poison procs

Both have their advantages, its up to playstyle really
