Defending twinking in the past then hating it cause you play f2p and now its all ok again.

I have not ever failed to make the distinction between those who twink in order to minimise any disadvantage, and seek fair, competitive games, and those who twink to maximise their advantage, seeking unfair, one sided games.

The only time I justified twinking for an advantage was right after XP-lock was implemented and before the battlegroup merge, and the only way to pressure Blizzard into following up on their stated intention of getting twinks out of levelling BGs was, in the short term, through encouraging the tears of said levellers (and because at that time the levellers were largely a bunch of unappreciative little fucks, who couldn't get that some of us wanted working XP locked BGs for their benefit as well as our own).

I am not for or against a person because they play twinks. I am for or against them based upon how and where they play twinks (and I have always felt that if there is any 'ownership' of a bracket, then it is determined by both the proportion of the players that any group contributes towards a bracket, as well as the proportion of their time that they spend playing that bracket).

Now that everyone in the 20-29 bracket has access to the same enchants without it requiring a subscription, and most non-subscribing players have accepted that, I see no reason to take issue with 29s over their gear. Their level does not give them the same advantage they once had.

All that remains is 'Blizzard's commitments'. Namely 'No class should be one-shotting at any level'.

I'm about on the same page, as far as gear goes. I don't have a problem with 29s per se, I have a problem with the players that play 29s, and seek non-competitive games. Queueing 10-mans from one faction only, when you know there isn't an equivalent team on the other faction, using all consumables on cooldown, and dodging balanced wargames—these are behaviours of non-competitive scumbags. There is nothing inherently bad about 29s, other than the fact that the power imbalance attracts predatory cowards.

I guess that's why I see 20s as more of a solution than a problem. It's somewhat of a middle ground, a compromise, that everyone can attain, no matter what their resources. But as I stated above, for those that have already bought the game, and don't want to pay anymore, the wow tokens are coming out soon. This means the entire game will be buy-to-pay, or free-to-play after the initial investment. This will make the entire game potentially "f2p", and therefore, all this ballyhoo over who got 20s chocolate in their 29s peanut butter, will be moot, as every bracket will potentially have non-subscribing players.

I do have to say, I am still very conflicted about the whole thing. This is probably why I'm on hiatus from the bracket. It was not enjoyable as a f2p, and even less so as a 29. I think I'm just going to wait and see how this whole thing shakes out, while hoping my 2 cents helps push the bracket in a good direction.

Starter Edition is for new players trying the game. Reasonable F2P players transitioned to the Veteran Edition accounts made available to them. F2P is dead. All that's left are a few unreasonable people clinging to their damned stupid pride.
If Trial's were meant only for new players there would be a time limit. Regardless of intention, or interpretation, it's an unlimited free option. I play competitively 100% F2P. Why does making use of a free and competitive option make me unreasonable?

If I weren't getting a sense of achievement from outplaying people while at a disadvantage I wouldn't be playing at all. Since Cata, we've always viable class choices. Always had viable racials. Thanks to your addon, bringing friends along is a breeze. I stated previously that I'd use the Vet option when and where I chose to. Thus far, I haven't felt the need. We are as flexible as ever, especially if we don't cling to certain classes.

I play 100% pure F2P on one unlinked account, than have a separate with veteran on my old P2P account.

Do you at least think I'm half decent? :(

Let's look at this dilemma from another angle.
I will list some differences between Trials and Veterans that should offer some food for though when you're thinking about which direction to go.

Advantages of being a Veteran:
• An all around easier time, against both F2Ps and 29s.
• More space for storing extra items.
• Wider variety of possible transmogs.

Advantages of being a F2P(Trial):
• No initial cost, you can get started right away.
• You don't need to pay 15$ when you realize you're getting bored of your current class and want to try something new which you didn't think of before.
• Rare items like Shadowfang, Deckhand's Shirt, Ring of Precision, etc. mean something and you can keep yourself busy farming such stuff when you don't feel like PvPing.

----------

Advantages of a bracket where all non-subscribers are Veterans:
• An easier time against 29s.

Advantages of a bracket where all non-subscribers are F2Ps(Trials):
• New players have a much easier time getting up to speed with the rest of the bracket, and don't need to pay for that privilege.
• The lack of enchants makes the bracket less bursty, thus making for less people getting global'ed and for overall more skill-based play.

Now think again. For what reasons do you play Veteran, and is it worth it?

advantage of veteran:
i have had the same gear for years now. i want better gear that cannot be obtained without paying

Sorry guys but $5 is like $50000 for a Mexican-American, es que no puedo, ero muy pobre... #problemasmexicanas

What exactly is a " Mexican-American"? You are either American or Mexican. How can you be both? What would a Caucasian be called? Why don't they call themselves by hyphenated names? I know why... Because they are proud to be Americans.

It's not. I deleted two BiS 29s. They made me ill just looking at them at login. 29s are the absolute trash of wow.

Lawls, six months ago 24's were the "absolute trash of WoW". What will be the " absolute trash of WoW" six months from now? The TC?

1. I'm guessing someone born in either country with one parent from each of the nations.
2. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
3. White, Caucasian, lots of options.
4. Only Americans are silly enough to be proud to be Americans. So I guess the person in this scenario is American not Mexican.

I agree too, i'm not particularly fond of vets at all. However the f2p dream is quite dead, only foolish to hold onto something that has already slipped away.
wtb someone to make a cata f2p private server, PLS. it would be amaze.

F2p private server only works if it's only f2p and 24s or 29s on it. So f2ps can complain about j/k . But if it's all free on a private server wouldn't the 24s and 29s be f2ps then also. Lol

So maybe you mean make a lvl 20 server? Then again wasn't one of the original concepts the challenge of fighting p2ps. Hence a f2p server lose the challenge appeal?

PS. miss seeing you in the gulch lanky :p

My f2p dream is still quite real and alive, although I don't complain over the vets and 29s too often, because that is simply the challenge. It's like the problem of 29s has only increased, and that's no problem for me as long as I know I can out play them. Although, I am a bit sad that my friends went vet, but that's okay. The challenge has only gotten bigger, and if you can play from cata or mop, or whenever you started, up until the 20-29 bracket started, then you should be able to make it from here until yonder. Maybe the true challenge is not going vet in the first place. Maybe this will show us who can really endure such hardships. Maybe it doesn't even matter, as longer as the player is having fun. But I can tell you this, my fun is the challenge, and I assure you that is the case for many others, or maybe few others, for now. Only time will tell, but maybe it's already been told.

edit: where did my signature go, tf?

beating 29s are possible obviously, most of them just farm jajas at gy so i could prolly pick flag up naked and run it and win. but the games are not competitive at all, e.g. no one rly knows their role in wsg. but still, games are ok
