Free Faction Change

I have personally tested as working free realm transfers for F2P. Blizz are going to start offering free faction transfers, and it may also be possible to use these as F2P. It might be worth testing out for the gear advantages. For now, it seems to only be Barthilas Horde to Alliance so unfortunately, no eyepatch counter just yet, but it's something worth trying for.

thanks for the heads up <3 double rings on toons would be very nice as well as bis haste set up and what not . might have to make some toons for this case we don't see another opportunity like it and it becomes gf'd

F2P aren't supposed to be able to use free realm transfers either, and yet they can. Also, for now, it's Horde to Ally only. It also doesn't start until a few hours, so it's impossible to test right now.
 
ive made a few toons already to see if it is possible, i was figuring out which race/class combo benefits most from this, i settled on belf warriors/pallys, and belf hunters/rogues to whatever race, just from looking at gear/prof bonuses, what do you guys think? i dont really think double argas rings matter much atm, although if stam is being doubled maybe it will be down the road
 
Hard to say if you'd keep your goblin alchemy recipes. One way to find out... Yes, the extra chanting of BEs makes them ideal in most cases. The only thing you get from goblin alchemy is the health potion, and you can easily buy those from vendors.
 
For hunters, maybe go Panderian and get the Crane pet? Not sure if the possibility of keeping 115 Alchemy is better though.
 
Tmis only the first of many realms, hopefully. Blizzard stating that they are just testing it with a low population realm. Other realms realms may follow suit soon. Allowing faction change from Alliance to Horde. For most casters, double Argas is the way to go. Come WoD they may even scale.

omg you didnt say "Sweetsidney" at the end of your post! I win!

But yeah, I highly doubted it will work but Blizz is known for their flaws (ex: 70s with arena titles) so good luck!
 
Nobody knows. we'll find out soon though, this is all under the assumption that the free faction change will function for trials like the free server transfers did.
And as of right now its only happening on one realm, and only for horde players switching too alliance, with the possibility of it being expanded to more realms with faction imbalances
 
Why hasn't anyone tested it on the one server yet?

What is wrong with 70's with arena titles? We could do arena's during The Burning Crusade, That is not a flaw, it is just another facet of the game that is not end game content.

P,S. OMG But yeah.... and you did say "meet the sponsers" and proceeded to list not one, not two, not three, but nine different characters.

Sorry to have been unclear, at the end of Season 14, 70s were awarded arena titles by mistake :) But they were removed the following week.

And I have different subdivisions in my signatures, one for all my toons named "Sponsor", one for my really OLD and classy twinks, and another for my 50 :)
 
OK!

For horde -> alliance the most notable gear would be from quest chains. Garrosh pardon, boots of the hero, 2nd argas.

Engi, alchemy, ench, herb, whatever increased by your racial trait WILL NOT be increased after faction change.

Most interesting races:

1. Belfs for: +1 agi on cloak, +1 stam on shield (better make some extra enchants)
2. Pandaren for the crane chick pet

I haven't tested it yet, because it isn't available yet. It starts May 27, which is now. When I log into Battle.net I don't see a free faction change link, and when I go into the normal faction change link, my paid account has no game time nor characters currently on Barth, so it's a little difficult for me to test.

If someone has a paid account and can level to 10 on Barth, then go into the faction change and see if it's free, that would confirm if they're doing it that way. In the case of free realm transfers though, it's a separate link to paid transfers.

You can see that there's a link for Character Transfer, and also a link for Free Character Migration. So far, no Free Faction Change or what ever they plan to call it. If it's a separate free link, then I am pretty sure F2P can use it. If it's part of the standard paid link, then it's going to be a bit more complicated, since we will need to know the character id number, and even then, no guarantees. I'd be much more confident of it working if there was a separate link.
